Remember when we got burned and Taylor Twellman talked about "what if that was Hazard" what did you think of that? is Twellman incapable of using logic?
Long covered it. Adams covered him. The coverage was good and all the attacks were shut down - but go on man. This isn’t going anywhere
The US only had 2. And our goal came off a fluke deflection. So we could say that both teams played close to perfectly defensively. OOOOOORRRRRR, we could point to the real culprit … that both the US and Ecuador stunk offensively, due to lineup/roster decisions by both.
Twellman is s horrible analyst. If hazard is pressing high on that wing / we adjust tactics Sheesh man -
The point is, last night we made some mistakes defensively, and we have room for improvement. Most of the mistakes happened on the sides of the field where more rotation/communication is required. This is pretty much par for the course when learning a new complicated system. If you want to believe perfection was achieved defensively last night that is pretty shocking but ultimately fine. I am just hoping GGG doesn't walk away thinking the defense has virtually no room for improvement.
There is a lot of time to see if Berhalter is wedded to this formation with Adams at right back 100% of the time. I would suspect he will tailor it to the teams we are playing but that right now he is trying to get the base formation and tactics installed that he will use against most opponents - read CONCACAF teams not named Costa Rica and Mexico and maybe whover's on an upswing. If playing great teams with a great attacking left winger he may move Adams inside, play Yedlin (or whoever the best traditional right back at the time is) and drop Trapp/Bradley. Time will tell.
Seriously? You weren’t taught or don’t teach pressure and cover? It’s the very basics of soccer defense.
Principles of defending are described as; pressure, cover, balance, compactness and improvisation/surprise. So, “ coverage” may not be a term you hear used but “cover” is always used for defending in soccer. First you need pressure on the ball, then need cover behind that pressure to prevent penetration from a pass, man beat on dribble, etc. Balance ensures other threats are paid attention to and Compactness is a principle in shape. Long discussion can go into all of it.
Cover is used; coverage is not. The latter is a standard term only in American football. And yes, I'm trolling that guy because that's all he's worth.
Meh, the primary problem with Pragidealist is that he won’t admit what’s obvious: he has a huge MLS bias that he tries to obfuscate in almost every post. He should just admit that he’s a homer (which he’s entitled to be) instead of the “I just want to experiment with a new style” facade. The worrying part is that GB appears to have that same bias.
The off-the-ball movement of Morris and Zardes makes each suitable as forwards in a possession based system.
It would have been more newsworthy had no scouts been breathing heavily on him. Getting him in the upcoming Summer transfer window would be a smart hedge against his valuation skyrocketing following a full '19/'20 B1 season. 1111338509229387776 is not a valid tweet id
Agreed. Leipzig is not in a hurry to sell their golden boy. They are likely going to extend his contract in the summer, and raise his value further.
Likely depends on the offers. Adams, who turned 20 in Feb, should finish the season with at least 12 starts. Number of U22 players with at least 11 league starts at CM/DM for top 6 teams(for any team)*: EPL----------0(1) Serie A------1(7) La Liga------0(5) Bundesliga-0(1) * source = whoscored
