On the one hand, his average position on the field is up in the center circle. On the other hand, they are playing half-court soccer. Utter control of the field by RB
2-0 Leipzig at the half. Adams playing pretty well, like basically all of his teammates. He is making impact defensively and as well as completing multiple line breaking passes.
What a great half for Tyler. Looking like the player he was before the injury. Not only holding the ball and intercepting but also providing good passes thru the midfield. Not playing the inverted 6 like he did last week. Nags must have put that out there to add an air of mystery. I think it was ridiculous that of all the great play he had in the 1st they focused on him only when he was nutmegged. Lame. It wasn't like it was done on purpose. The co-announcer also said the inverted 6 employed last week was out of necessity due to injuries to the CBs. I don't think that is true at all. At any rate, aside from one missed pass going forward I think it was a fantastic half for the kid.
Another solid outing from Adams as the 6. Glad to see him being played there because that’s exactly where we need him to play for the NT.
Indeed. He was more aggressive offensively in this one too which is nice to see. But defensively...? The kid can deal. So many tackles/interceptions to recover the ball and/or starting the counter. I am eager to see what his final stats are. On a related note, I was a bit miffed that they didn't show the replay of the "foul" they called on him at the top of the box. It looked clean in real time as he definitely appeared to get a lot of the ball. Don't they always show a replay of a foul that leads to a FK? It came to nothing but still...
4/4 accurate long balls today. *gasps Does he not know that he doesn’t have the passing range for that?
Reus has a long-term muscle injury. We'll see. When healthy, they'll see if they can get him back in there.
Based on yesterday’s game, Reyna is better than Reus now. I also didn’t see a comp for Dest or even Steffan.
Julian Brandt is more the German international that he’s effectively relegated to the bench- and he’s 100% healthy.
Did someone say armchair know-it-all? Ahem, nobody around here like that. Anyhoo, the CB lineup was just a ruse. They lined him up as a more classic 6 but for the first 20 or so he was really linking well and RBL were running away with the game. Mainz solution was to clobber Adams when he received the ball. FWIW, when he drops between the CBs he has the advantage of not getting clobbered from behind. Regardless, Mainz looked a lot better once they did that.
Why would the arrogance of fans, real of actual, have anything to do with their teams' performance on the field? Bizarre take.

I’m surprised I’ve never seen it, or maybe I did while drunk on kolsch and just don’t recall..shocker there.
I don't remember what highlights show I watched either while pie-eyed in a flat in Berlin, but it was superb
