From UTC forum: ----- Adams ----- Fantastic energy and regularly covering for others to nip attacks in the bud. Was it that the more defensive setup suited him more or was it that match fitness finally starting to show? Could be a bit of both. Up there with our best players tonight Adams was great and will be causing the manager headaches with his midfield selections now Cook is back. Adams and Christie dominated I thought Adams had a great game Adams at his best tonight, constantly disrupting and turning the ball over. Tyler Adams was immense. The minute they get the ball he is so quick to close them down
Halftime. West Ham was the better side early on, but a good run of play for Bournemouth later in the half so I'll call it pretty even. Thin Bournemouth bench today - a couple of guys who have never played - so as long as Tyler's there as a "will play but on a minutes limitation" instead of "emergency midfielder," I expect he'll play. West Ham has probably slightly won the midfield battle, which could drive a halftime or 60-70 minute sub like dethfire suggested.
Adams is coming on at 65' edit: Adams is getting set to come on at 65'. It looked like it was an injury sub, but AFCB play on before Tyler subs in.
VAR is looking at a handball in the box committed by Adams. But it's glancing at best. If he gives it, it's harsh imo
Letter of the law battles common sense - Var check to see if a cross touched Tyler’s finger on the way by.
That's really harsh, but technically correct. The change in direction where it makes contact is BARELY noticeable. PK converted. 0-1 West Ham.
Everyone has their own sense of what a handball should be, and mine is "did it have a tangible effect on the play?" Adams's handball didn't do anything to prevent Fullkrug's header, or even to make the opportunity worse. So in the ArsenalMetro IFAB rules, that wouldn't be a penalty even though his arms were fully extended. Totally understand why it was given though.
Unal levels with a PERFECT free kick! And 8 minutes of added time coming! hoooo boy, the replays of that FK are hot. Literally the perfect dip on it.
game over at 1-1. Not Tyler's best showing, but I also think that the PK does a lot of the heavy lifting in that assessment.
Handball aside. - played ok. Tidy with the ball. - got stuck in a few times - tried to body/shield a defender to collect the ball a couple times but minimal effect. Not a bunch to go off of. Not a bad showing.
