All UK cars up until a year or so ago were assigned a letter of an alphabet depending on when they were made... ie all cars made in the second half of 2001 is a 'U' reg (not really, but for example). This letter is the first letter of the licence plate number. So saying its an X-reg just indicates how old the car is... Glad to hear they're both doing Ok
