TFC CC champ and runner up will now get a direct pass to Copa Libertadores. http://www.laopinion.com/deportes/?...611190311809483
great news! but it isnt official yet just a question. So mexican teams will still have a contract with the the venezuelan teams right? so if the champions cup is an all MFL final then that means 4 teams in copa libertadores for mexico (since it is almost a given that MFL teams beat venezuelan teams each time) i was hoping that mexico would get 2 direct spots (superlider and the champion of clausura)
I thought that the deal for the Venezuelan slots was in trouble or about to end or something. I read that somewhere. I expect if this happens with the CONCACAF CC, the deal with Mexico will end anyway.
well i am listening to radio unica and they are talking about it. the proposal calls for mexican teams to play their copa libertadores games in the USA (for the money) so the mexicans in mexico and their stadiums get screwed but mexican americans in L.A will get copa libertadores in the coliseum from now on. I think this is an insult but knowing the greedy people of the FMF they wont mind.
The big question here is will the deal end the Pre-Libertadores, etc. and the Venezuela deal?? Will it simply be CC and some other route not named yet?
what about mls teams? i dont think mls teams will participate because of their limited roster size. lots of mls teams are plagued with injuries and just cant compete in such a tournament with the limited size of mls rosters.
this should make mexican teams interested in the champions cup from now on. that is bad news for the rest of concacaf. You were getting destroyed by mexican b teams that didnt care, and now they have a reason to care.
Buenos Aires for a midweek match?? Long trip for the teams but I'd love to see it happen. When I've made that trip from the east coast I was reallllllllllllllllly tired when I got there.
actually, the mexican teams largely played their "a" teams v. columbus and metros, at least in the first games that meant something. unless i'm mistaken.
i wonder if the concacaf is going to try to screw MFL teams by going back to the old format where they played at neutral venues. Ever since the home and away the mexican teams have been unbeatable.
So you are saying that Mexican teams are no good at neutral venues? I guess that's what you are saying. Yes, I guess I agree with you. Mexican teams are no good at neutral venues where they don't get the automatic red cards for defenders breathing, etc..
It hasn't worked for a few hours. I have never seen the article myself. If it exists it must have gone down right after it was posted. Perhaps the URL is wrong? I would think VS would have checked that so I doubt it.
i think we should stop speculating and just wait to see what happens. mexico might still get 2 direct spots but of course the venezuelans will not be happy with conmebol if that happens.
What about the InterAmerican Cup??? Personally, I like the InterAmerican Cup. It used to mean something. However, it seemed to have slipped by the waste side. I think this title should be revived.
Re: What about the InterAmerican Cup??? WAYSIDE. WAYSIDE. my mom worked with a guy who's last name was "by the way". his granddad (or some relative) had been found on the side of the road with amnesia so this town nearby took him him and named him By the Wayside (where he was found). later shortened to by the way.
Screw this and go to the inevitable: an ALL Western Hemisphere Copa America and Copa Libertadores. Someone tell Warner and Blazer they can be part of the IOC and leave futbol. Greedy thieves!
