Radio Unica informed two days ago that MLS will add two team next year. I would like to know if someone here heard the same or if this is true.

IF this is true, I predict:

    1. One of them will win the USOC

    2. One will win the MLS Cup.

    3. Dallas will win the Supporter's Shield.

Check back next year, see if I'm not right.

This is exciting news and would be a great Christmas gift from MLS.

    All is forgiven, MLS!

Good article. My only question is about the Rochester Stadium?. Is the stadium ready?. Now big is the stadium?

They can play at Frontier stadium for 4-5 months, then move to their new house.

Very true. It's small, seating-wise, but way better as a temporary home than either Cardinal or Dragon Stadium.

If Rochester gets a MLS team I hope its the exsisting Rhinos and not a new expanison team. Actually I think all new MLS teams should be exsisting A League teams that way you at least have some tradition already established.

Well that is the plan for cities with established A-League teams....

    Club America.

In today's newspaper in Mexico City the owner of Las Aguilas de America said there's only details to be worked out on their MLS team. It's either San Jose or Houston.

I guess if they take over SJ, then Rochester can make it in. If it's Houston (matched with Chivas SD), then maybe not.

It seems that Rochester's owners are a lot more hot to get into MLS now. Maybe I'm wrong about their sudden increased interest, but with Chivas and America getting in, AEG selling the Rapids, Metro getting close to a stadium deal, AEG might have the muscle to open two more franchises and round out expansion at 16

    the ten existing
    Chivas SD
    America Hou
    Cleveland
    OKC
    Philly AEG
    Seattle AEG

In the MLS plan, only OKC and Cleveland could be beaten out by Rochester. The other four are major media markets that MLS needs more than Rochester for purely media reasons.

    Interesting times.

    Piss off chilangos!

Tejas was lied to by the ruling Federal government in Mexico City. Thats what provoked the Tejano rebellion of 1835-36 and Tejas independence. America and its fans are disliked by everyone that is a futbol fan in Mexico. CLUB AMERICA, ITS MONEY AND ITS COLORS REPRESENT ALL THAT IS CORRUPT IN MEXICAN SOCIETY...IMHO.
It would be the worst move to have the symbol of Mexican arrogance to its OWN people set up shop in Houston Texas!
I would not support a Team America in Houston. Once again MLS would show its ignorance about the culture that soccer represents.

Piche Chilangos not wanted in Tejas!

ITS ALL ABOUT THE FANS AND PUBLICO DUMMY!

That's like being the best beach volleyball team in Siberia, but I take your point.

Interesting post by CeltTexan. Perhaps California is the better place, politically, for America. At least they aren't talking about San Antonio. Remember the Alamo!

Didn't Club America state that they didn't want to start up an expansion team? That would rule out Houston. Houston's only chance is with Vergara for the moment. Returning to Club America, that would really leave San Jose as the most likely destination, however it was mentioned that perhaps Dallas as well. That would be interesting...

won't be ready til at the earliest August '04. Current plans are 17,500 seats, with plans to expand it to 20k+ if they get into MLS. They are paying in Frontier Field until it opens. FF is somewhere between 12 and 13k seats.

Bring Rochester, Bring Chivas, though I dont like that name. Vergara should pick a name the represent all Mexicans in USA. For intances, I like Mexicans stars or else.

No.... mr. Viergra should pick a name which represents the city in which tthe team plays in.... not a hard concept.... in fact all MLS team names and colors should do this....

    off on my own tangent...

if the expansion teams turn out to be san diego and houston instead of san diego and rochester, i would expect kansas city to move to the eastern conference.
