Two very classy things in last game: 1) After the game, a very exausted Chris Albright spent a good 15 minutes signing autographs along the lower wall. Great for soccer. Great job Chris! 2) Many Galaxy fans seem to complain about Donovan as whiner, but when Ruiz came out with a few minutes to go, did any of you notice Donovan applauding him all the way to the sideline. You negative folk might say he was taunting him, but I bet Donovan was saying, "Ruiz, you flop a lot, but you are one hell of a soccer player, Great job!"
The San Jose TV announcers said Landon was being sarcastic and applauding Carlos for "fooling" Kevin Stott (as if that were hard to do!) I assume they know their players well enough to know what they are talking about. So, no, it wasn't "classy." The next time Landon does something "classy" in LA will be the first.
I think of myself as an optimist , but, COME ON! Ruiz down, Mullan off, Donovan yells, Ruiz swings, Donovan flops. And THEN he applauds his skill and ability?!?! Me thinks not.
Pat Onstad also was signing autographs for the ball kids after the game, which he strictly speaking did not have to do at all.
I have to deal with all the teams and players that come to HDC. WITHOUT question SJ is one of the nicest teams to deals with. Landon is also happy and cordial as well as most the other guys. Onstad is another one of my absolute favorite MLS players to deal with. If I had to rank the teams SJ would be at the very top. regardless of what happens on the field they are always friendly and professional off the field. Take it for whats it worth. worst team in the league, Chicago hands down
This may be blasphemy, but that's really, really easy to believe. Okay, it's hard to believe Landon has any class. But Mullan and Waibel were cool guys when they were down here. Most of the Quakes' supporting cast seem like decent fellows. And I'm a big mark for their general manager. Okay, factoring out Ante Razov, how does Chicago rate? Feel free to spill more dirt about other teams, I won't tell. (Actually, I think most of the guys are just straightforward guys making middle-class money - MLS headcases, jerkoffs, criminals and jackanapes are in our future, not our present.)
Dan if you look above you'll see Chicago mentioned you can wait for the book like everyone else........ "My life in the MLS"
You guys are al too much. All do negative. Not one of you has said, "yeh, that Chris Albright did a real good thing. Kudos to him." Try to build the sport, not always denigrate it.
I think one way to build the sport is to live up this rivalry and everything in it. Sure we may be b!tching about somethings that may seem so negative, but it got a few associates of mine curious about why I hate SJ. They see the passion I have and can equate it to their favorite sports. My anti- and non-soccer associates are getting it little by little and who knows, perhaps they'll be casual fans soon.
