I figured this might be the best spot to ask this, does anyone have the stats (like games played and goals scored) for Taylor Twellman when he played with 1860's reserves? I was wondering what they were. TIA.

If CM4 is right, about the same as with New England.

It says 26 games, 24 goals.

CM4 is wrong...I think there's some sort of bug with the player history files where the stats and the year aren't lined up properly.

Twellman had five league goals for 1860 in his full season there (in about 20 appearances), and also a couple in cup play. Not sure if he scored at all during his abortive second season--he rarely got off the bench. Brilliant talent evaluation by the 1860 coach.

Are you sure this is right? I seem to remember that he had a pretty high strike rate -- higher than the one you report -- which is why he was so frustrated with not getting a legit shot at the first team. Don't know where I read it, though, so I of course could be wrong. Can anybody find a source (I looked and came up empty)?

yea i gotta agree with scoey here, i think he did in fact score lots of goals in the reserve matches when he was at 1860, hence the chip on his shoulder that he never saw a whole lot of meaningful first team action.

Well this has been helpful. :D

I posted this in YA becuase I had searched Google pretty thoroughly and couldn't find anything, so I figured maybe some German based posters might have resources I'm unaware of.

If Twellman did score loads and didn't get a chance, that makes sense, since I'm sure they were saying much the same things over there that have been said over here. I agree that he doesn't _appear_ to have anything. He's not real fast (but he can run a little). His touch and ball control are questionable. He's not particularly big and while he can jump a little, he doesn't get way up there. His passing could be better...

...and yet the balls keep going in the net. I was checking because I was wondering if the same phenomenon happened in the reserves over there (as it happened, in admittedly a small smaple of games, in the youth world championships).

Here's the 2000/01 Regionalliga Sud goalscoring list:

    http://www.kicker.de/content/saison...1&spieltag=37&spielpaarung=&turnier=&mode=all

He scored three games in a row near midseason, but only twice in his final 16 appearances.

Chris Courtney cited cited a higher figure in one of his columns, but that included goals in cup matches and friendlies against lower-division teams. I think that's the source of the confusion.

After counting it up, he had 5 goals in around 1215 minutes (he didn't start regularly, and was often subbed out when he did start).

The way I recall it, and don't hesitate to correct me, 1860 was willing to renew his contract, but didn't expect him to see 1st team action for a couple of years. However this was true for all players under 24. TT thought he had a better chance in MLS.

Later that year the 1860 higher ups wondered why they were paying for all this youth development and not getting anything. So, they canned that coach, brought in a guy who wasn't afraid to use young guys and we have Benjamin Lauth starting and scoring. I believe he is the same age as TT and had a similar strike rate (4 goals when TT had 5) in the reserves.

Twellman had a two year player option that he decided not to renew.

Yeah, makes you wonder what Twellman could have done if they had the right coach. A good illustration of how a successful stint overseas is so dependent on finding the right situation.
