Have to agree with the article...nothing ticks me off more then when they cut away to coaches and players or even fans during the match. Go ahead and interview them, but do it during the half or post time show. Next to playing music during the match this has to be one of the bigger stumbling blocks for MLS...IMO. http://www.wspsoccer.com/north_america/?page=details&area=1031830815
This is one of those cases that we have to "sacrifice" for the greater good. I think these stupid interviews are fun for the casual fan, especially getting Paysse on tv.
If I was Soccer America, I'd send a cease and desist order to that website for using copyrighted material.
No doubt. I don't particularly like the coach interviews and that stuff, but I hardly doubt it's a make or break thing for the league.
I agree. I really don't see this as a big problem for the average fan...and the rest of us, face it, will watch no matter what. And I certainly don't mind looking at the woman from time to time. That said, she really seemed to be reaching for somthing to say to Zambrano tonight.
Please. We miss more action because of ESPN and everyone elses ill-timed replays than because of Veronica's interviews. The producer chooses the cameras. Those are the people that need to go to Soccer Film 101.
It doesn't bother me that much when we miss a play because they are showing us a replay of action. What really bothers me is when the miss the action to show us something off the field. I don't want to see crowd shots, reactions of the coaches, or celebrity interviews.
Why do they need a full camera cutaway for an interview on the sideline on ESPN? I've seen the regional games put the interview in one corner of the screen so as not to miss the action on the field, or as simple a voice over while the camera follows the ball. Why not put a rotating soccer ball with Veronica screaming "congratulations" to Frank Yallop and have a sponsor's name around the ball. We get soccer, Veronica and ad time all at the same time.
