I think that 'TC' might surprise some people this year. The coach certainly likes to 'thing big.' He has scheduled as non-conference opponents UCSD, CBU, and NKU. How many coaches do you think would have the guts to schedule the number 1, 2 and 3 ranked teams? especially within a 12 day period, all on the road? For that alone, they Pioneers deserve our support! http://www.tusculum.edu/athletics/soccer_women/index.html
Team enters the top 25 TC, on the strength of it's one win and the 1-0 loss to the number 1 ranked team, has moved up to the 21st spot in the Division II polls... http://www.tusculum.edu/athletics/soccer_women/releases/WS_09-04-02.htm
Lincoln Memorial University game [R] TC has an easy time of it in a 7-0 win over the Lady Railsplitters. The Pioneers have now only given up 1 goal in 3 games, on the way to a 2-1-0 record. http://www.tusculum.edu/athletics/soccer_women/releases/WS_09-05-02_(LMU).html
CBU Game [R] Tusculum lost to the Buccaneers 4-1. Here is the CBU account of the game.... http://www.gobucsgo.com/sports/wsoccer/press/02-03/sep14.html
This past week... 19th ranked Tusculum defeated Campbellsville College 7-0 after a 2-2 tie with a Catawba team that had had a 5-0-0 record.
Tusculum out of top 25 in polls & ratings http://www.tusculum.edu/athletics/soccer_women/releases/WS_09-23-02_(polls).html Tusculum beat Mars Hill College 2-1 on the 23rd. Their only losses have been to the top 3 teams, 2 of which were ranked #1. Those 3 losses were only by a total of 5 goals. And in their 1 tie so far, they outshot the opponent 2-1, had an 8 to 1 edge in corners, comitted half the fouls, and got 1 caution to their opponent's 4. Their opponents so far have a composite Albin-Jones ranking of 1491. The next closest is Barry, with 1295. Of the top 10, only UCSD and Cal Poly Pomona have one over 1200. They certainly should be higher ranked in the NSCAA poll.
Wingate game 9-29-02 The Pioneers blanked Wingate 1-0 yesterday, and then found out today that they are back in the top 25. http://www.tusculum.edu/athletics/soccer_women/releases/WS_09-29-02_(Wingate).html
Game against #8 Presbyterian The Pioneers shut out the Blue Hose 3-0. Tusculum should never have been ranked below Prebyterian. They still haven't lost against any team that was ranked lower than #2 at the time they plaed that team. Maybe now they will leap up into that top 15, where they belong. http://www.tusculum.edu/athletics/soccer_women/releases/WS_10-05-02_(PC).html
Congratulations to the Pioneers, who make it into the top 10 for the second time this year! http://www.tusculum.edu/athletics/soccer_women/releases/WS_10-07-02_(polls).html
Cumberland game The Pioneers got 3 goals from freshman en route to a 4-0 win over the Patriots, as they outshot their opposition 25-7. http://www.tusculum.edu/athletics/soccer_women/releases/WS_10-10-02_(Cumberland).html

Newberry game The Pioneers overwhelmed the Lady Indians 12-0, with Erin Wallace scoring 4 times. http://www.tusculum.edu/athletics/soccer_women/index.html
Carson-Newman game Although they had a 21-12 edge in shots, Tusculum was upset 3-2 by the Lady Eagles yesterday. Erin Wallace and Amber Ferchaud scored for the Pioneers.
Concord College game The Pioneers used a hat-trick by Amber Ferchaud to defeat their conference foes 4-2. http://www.tusculum.edu/athletics/soccer_women/index.html
Update since the 20th, the Pioneers have defeated Lenoir - Rhyne 3-1 to ensure a tie for the conference championship; had a game Asheville cancelled due to inclement weather; and edged Clayton State 1-0.
1st round of conference championship games On Tuesday, the Pioneers had a laugher, defeating Newberry 8-0, with six different players notching goals. Amber Ferchaud got two goals, with five others scoring a goal and one came via an own goal. Next up, they meet Lenoir-Rhyne in the semifinals.
Semi-Final Upset I was really sorry to hear that the Pioneers let their season get away from them, losing 2-1 to 4th seeded Lenoir-Rhyne. It was a 0-0 tie until the 78th minute. Tusculum missed a penalty kick and subsequent rebound in the first half. Losing to a team that they had beaten 3-1 just a short time before had to make the outcome hurt that much more. I look for good things from the team next year.
