After watching Brazil and France wear those retro uniforms during the 1st half of the FIFA 100th birthday game. I thought to myself, have the Burn ever had a retro jersey night? I would love to see them play a game in their old Azteca jerseys circa 96-97. Maybe this is something they could do next year, to connect the new Frisco Burn fans to the lifelong Dallas Burn fans. Man, I would love to see the jaws of the soccer moms when they see the Burn's opponents jersey: The San Jose Clash.
LOL I've always wanted to do this because then I could wear my '96 Burn jersey with pride . The only Retro jersey games MLS has are the ones where the teams wear their old NASL counterpart's uniform. They didn't do this last year but it was done in 2002 and before. (remember when we beat NY in NY with 2 nice goals from Chivas?)
Im not a day 1er but from Ive seen of the old MLS jerseys I think we are better off with what we have now. Of course hindsight is always 20/20 but some of those jerseys were awful.
MLS is definitely preparing to really market the "10th season" next year. I would expect to see a round of throw-back jersey nights. Of course some of the jerseys will likely only be "inspired by" old jerseys do to changes in equipment suppliers for some teams.
I didnt think of the 10th anniversary tie in. With that in mind maybe opening night with a retro/throwback theme would be a good idea. Im all for changing suppliers. Im hoping Adidas will make the Burn kits next year.
adidas is the way to go ! I'm for the traditional clean, conservative classic look. I wish the Nats. would change as well.
I like the nats uni although I dont like the way the names are done. I really like the Adidas MLS jerseys KC, CLB, and even DC look very good. I like the trademark stripes and the logos/crests are done well also.
