Turkmenistan, one of the favourites in this tournament, and a team who can easily step it to tier 2 football, doesnt organise any international friendlies... pretty poor.

Turkmenistan arrives, aims to hurdle AFC President's Cup 2014 Qualifier

Top seed Turkmenistan arrived late last night at the Bacolod-Silay Airport for the Asian Football Confederation President's Cup 2014 Group B Qualifier scheduled May 6 to 10 at the Panaad Park and Sports Stadium.

Turkmenistan head coach Rowshen Meredov said their aim is to pass the Group Stage and advance to the finals of the AFC President's Cup this year.

With four of his players coming from the Turkmenistan national team, coach Meredov said his team is ready for the tournament where they will play against North Korea, Chinese-Taipei, and host Philippines represented by the Ceres – La Salle Football Club.

In 2014 AFC President's Cup, Suleyman Muhadov scored all 5 goals of HTTU. He is 93-born young talented forward who also makes appearances in national team. Suleyman is son of Chariyar Muhadov who is all-time leading goal-scorer of nt with 13 goals. (between 1992-1999 years)

    * Talented mid-fielder Arslan Amanow seems like got Kazakhstan citizenship.

Arslan Amanow quitted from Turkmenistan citizenship and got Kazakhstan's citizenship.

    Turkmen government don't accept dual-citizenship.

Turkmenistan rarely organise friendlies which is disappointing given their potential

    Turkmenistan squad against Guam.

*Match against Iran in Turkmenistan will be played not in capital city Ashgabat, but it will be in northern city Dashoguz (farthest city from Iranian border, Iran and Turkmenistan are neighbors). This is unusual, before this all of the home matches were played in Ashgabat. Reason might be to make difficulties for Iran. It is expected to see some foreign based players against Iran.

Yeah makes sense to play in the northern parts of the country further away from Iran less likely Iranians will make the trip to support their team.

I think it is good when a National team plays home matches in different cities of its country.

Turkmenistan will have training camp in Ashgabat between June 1-7, and they will fly to Philippines where they are planning 1 friendly match on June 8th. From there they will move to Guam.

Why not just arrive a little earlier so they can play in a friendly(even if not official) with the Philippines? That way they can get used to the tropical conditions they will see in Guam.

Heh, you know, turkmen federation is the worst in organizing such things.
