    thieved from soccernet without permission:

"Turkey are a point behind England and can go at least two points clear of them if they win away to the Slovaks on Saturday and at home to Macedonia on Wednesday. Worried by a recent dip in form, the Turks have recalled midfielder Sergen Yalcin, who missed last year's World Cup finals through injury, after inspiring Besiktas to their first Turkish league title. Turkey's World Cup strikers Ilhan Mansiz and Hasan Sas are both out with injuries."

Sas was crap in KJ; if Ilhan had come on earlier
they might have beaten Brazil. He looks like
some kind of Scythian badass from days of yore.
And he's their best striker in my book.

If Sas were on form, and both of them were
in France, i'd say we'd have our hands full.
Seeing as how it's not likely they are saving
themselves for the ConfedCup, we might get
to face Turkey without either or without both
of them, and although it doesn't ehance our
prospects of finding net past Rustu Recber,
it's two less problems to worry about for
what is shaping up to be a very untested
    USian defense at Tournament Level.

    Facetious Question:
If the Brazilians don't bring their A-team,
does FIFA classify the match as a
    "Full International" (TM JackCo, reg.pat.off)???

Non-USian content, but a great read:

It sure puts a damper on losing to Germany 1-0....
