http://myemail.constantcontact.com/...13-14.html?soid=1102150928413&aid=F08Mv-HC_KA Tulsa Revolution Granted PASL Membership for 2013/14 The Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) today announced it has granted approval to theTulsa Revolution to join the league for the 2013-14 season. The ownership group is led by Adam Mellor, who founded the Tulsa Revolution, and Shannon Clark. The Revolution played one season in the American Indoor Soccer League, but when the league ceased operations following the 2007-08 season, Mellor's team was forced to go dark. "We have wanted to bring the team back for some time, but we have a bigger vision and bigger goals now," said Mellor. "We believe the PASL is the right league to accomplish those goals, and we look forward to bringing professional arena soccer back to Tulsa next year." The Revolution have already agreed to terms with the 8,900 seat Tulsa Convention Center. "We are excited to welcome Adam, Shannon and the Revolution into the PASL as the first expansion team for the 2013/14 season," said PASL Commissioner Kevin Milliken. "Tulsa sports fans are in for a treat."
Consideraly better than the TULSA AMBUSH fared in the NPSL (circa 1991)... PLEASE tell me that Victor Moreland won't be the Player-Coach for this next attempt?
Now remember, the Mass. Twisters, the best team in the AISL, came out and played in the ignaugural NISL season. They didn't end up doing so well (1 win against Monterrey was their only victory the entire season). But there's no real telling how well the Tulsa team will do since it's going to have to be a brand new team and they're going to be playing in the PASL league...
Tulsa has a history with indoor teams. More so than the one year Tulsa Ambush who played the 91-92 season in the NPSL and finished 7-33 and the earlier version of the Tulsa Revolution who played the 2007-08 season in the AISL and finished 1-5. Tulsa Renegades (31-31) - played in the Southwest Independent Soccer League (89-90), 14-10 regular season, lost to Richardson Rockets 2 games to 0 in the playoffs. Sunbelt Independent Soccer League (90-91), 12-8 regular season, lost to Oklahoma City Warriors 2 games to 0 in the playoffs. United States Interregional Soccer League (91-92), 5-9 regular season . Tulsa Roughnecks (44-31) - played in the United States Interregional Soccer League (93-94), 9-3 regular season, defeated Oklahoma City Warriors 2 games to 1, Lost to the Atlanta Magic and Baltimore Bays in the Sizzing Four Tournament and lost to Baltimore in the 3rd place game. United States International Soccer League (94-95), 5-5 regular season, lost to the Atlanta Magic and defeated the Chattanooga Express in the Sizzling Six Tournament. United States International Soccer League (95-96), 6-6 regular season, lost to the Atlanta Magic and the Baltimore Bays in the Sizzling Five Tournament which Tulsa hosted. I-League (96-97), 11-4 regular season, lost to Baltimore Bays 2 games to 0 in the I-League Championship. I-League (97-98), 10-3 regular season, lost to Baltimore Bays 11 to 4 in the I-League Championship.
7-5 in 78-79, lost to Minnesota in the first round of the playoffs. 9-9 in 80-81, DNQ for playoffs. 10-8 in 81-82, beat Chi 2 games to 1, lost to TB in semi-finals 2 games to 1 There was no NASL indoor season in 82-83. 11-21 in 83-84, DNQ for playoffs.
Tulsa tried twice to join the original MISL, but was rejected both times: 1982-83 and again for 1984-85. Both times the small arena was the reason given for the owners declining the Roughnecks. Remember the days when a 9K seat arena was required?
Right now I think the requirement should be a 5,000 seat arena , I think Baltiomore needs to close the 3rd floor off completly with curtians & Block off the obstructed View facing Baltimore Street , have the fans sit in the lower and middle level . the arena will look more like its filled up and will look better on tv .
Card Man- spot on, although the problem would be other events that want to sell the upper deck. Don't know financially if it's worth Hale and Co to do that every game What is the capacity for the lower and middle about 8,000? that is perfect for indoor WWE did this a few months back. They had the entire nosebleed obstructed view side (behind the goal) blocked off with black curtains.
Its a easy Fix , The Arena has a screening system I know this for a fact because the company i worked for installed . I dont think they use it any more is was done for the Miss america Pagent to darken the aren for the live broad cast . It took us 3 weeks to get it done I remember it well because the pay was Great i got $35.00 a Hour to watch people work .
this is what i was told I dont know how correct the #s are the Lower Bowl holds 4,000 with stage and open area seating 4,500 The Middle concorse holds 6,000 , Upper Concorse holds 3,000 What i dont know is if those numbers are for indoor soccer or not I know for a concert thy can get 14,000 to 15,000 people in that arena if they use floor seating
If they screen off the upper level, they will need to build a press box. Press facilities in the Ancient Mariner are in the upper deck behind all of the seating.
When the arena is screened off they use to place the press box by the blast locker room door on the 2nd floor
So many (if not all) of the pre-2000 arenas have their press facilities "in the rafters." The two worst offenders (may they rest in peace/pieces) were the St. Louis Arena ("there seems to be a soccer game going on below us, but I can't be too sure") and Cobo Arena in Detroit (where broadcaster Howard Balson once had to break out -- as in break the lock and wooden framed door with it -- of one of the media rooms... and, to this day, I will bet that the door has not been repaired!).
Isn't that where they do the play by play for the webcasts? They need a place with power and an Internet hot spot. The current press box is not that great but you just can't drag out an extension cord. There are always at least 4 laptops going in the press box one of which is dedicated to PointStreak and that is the minimum number for a game.
right now they do it in the bress box on the 3rd floor , the use to do it by the locker room but that changed about 2 years ago
I can tell you for certain that they do not do the webcast commentary in the press box. The last time they were in the press box, they were on the radio.
The "press box" is a joke. It's like a caddy walk dangling below the yellow seats. Is that the "press box" you are refering to?
what yellow seats are u talking about , i am laking about the over on the 3rd floor or whay they call a skybox view lol
I got to sit in the press box once when I was about 12 with Art Sinclair and I guess Charley Eckman. Art asked me if I liked movies with gladiators. hee-hee
