As always......... Thanks for the clarification on Simo's 2nd card. I noticed about that same time O'brien limped off the field, I guess this was not serious?
slightly off-topic (but only slightly ) was the who's hot/who's not for this week. Nhleko's points per 90 is over 8, making him the bobby rhine of the last three games!
Do allocations expire? I've heard they do not and I've also heard they have a one year shelf-life. A definitive answer from somebody in the know would be much appreciated. If they don't expire I'd just as soon wait until the winter window to see if we can lure somebody more substantial for the opening of Frisco. Likewise, what are our options with Nhleko? Can we just cut him and his entire salary is freed up off the cap? That seems awfully harsh to be true and makes me wonder why anybody would come play here.
Historically, they don't expire. We've read of some teams use their allocation even two years after they got them (San Jose I think).
Allocations don't expire. Nhleko (or anyone else) can be cut and have his salary come off the cap as long as he ... 1. is not on a guarenteed contract, which I am 95% sure he is not... in fact I think only Gibbs.. and maybe Simo would fall under this one. and 2. it happens before a certain date. After a certain date you only get a % of a players contract off the cap.
I noticed the report says Wagenfur will be fighting for a travel squad spot. does this mean the loan is over? how did he do, I dont recall hearing anything about it. And whats going on with Thomo?
Those deals are season long... so he can go back. Wagenfuhr was brought back becasue there were a couple reserve games and Colin wanted ot see him. He will be here for a few weeks with US Open Cup and some Wednesday games. It's important to remember his loan deal was to play his way back into shape and form after his injury. He is pushing Gbandi hard and playing well. Thompon at the time was 5th on the forward list and needs serious playing time. He is a project if you will. He has been getting some minutes at Atlanta but is not starting. They have Alex Pineda-Chacon and Mac Cozier who are both pretty good. Which is too bad as Jason really needs to be playing somewhere. I am hearing Jason might be coming back as well becasue of the up coming heavier load of games. But he still has a long way to go.
Without having seen it, I would only say Wagenfuhr is a left back and not a left mid. Frankie hejduk he is not flying up and down the line. He is just a very solid defender with fantastic work rate and stanima. There is some real quality to his game IMHO. He is not a dominating kind of player even though he was a semi-finalist for the Herman. In the interest of full disclosure I am a huge fan of his game and think he will be a outstanding MLS player. He reminds me of Evan Whitfield a bit. But if anyone gets a chance to see him in a reserve game or a US Open Cup game I would recommend it... then you can decide for yourself.
Sorry I was not trying to imply you were mistaken, but that wags at LM is wags playing out of position.
