Interesting to see the comments from A-league supporters of MLS quality. Sounds a lot like MLS fans on the European game.

Conflicting reports? 600m or 300m? Deal altered after marketing exec sacked? Lots of ambiguity. Maybe my reading comprehension is lacking, but the 300m sounds a lot closer to reality. Still not a bad deal MUFC though.

i heard their was a shake up at GM. I personally find the 600 from a struggling company hard to imagine. Do you have a link?

BI says $273m ($39m annually for 7 years). This would make sense, and is 25% up on AON deal. This is almost surely the right figure.

WSJ saying the the terms of the deal were altered after the exec was fired. So that would be where the $600m rumor is derived from you would suspect. But even this idea that some guy overestimated the deal by 100% before being fired seems ludicrous.

    600 Millions ?????

with that kind of money they could pay for 3 MLS stadiums (and name them as they like).

I know that ManU is a powerful brand... but i don't think is THAT powerful

You're right, its not that powerful, which is why its not $600m, but $273m.

On top of that there's also a $100m "activation" fee, to be paid by taxpayers GM.

makes me wonder if he wasn't trying to sign a deal, and then score a "kick back" knowing he was on his way out... You don't just accidentally overestimate like this. Unless of course their is funny counting techniques like in the Beckham deal, just to try and create splash by saying it was bigger than it was, once you count "potential earning"
