Chinese consortium pays $400M for 13% of City Football Group (Man City, NYCFC and Melbourne City ownership group): http://www.bbc.com/news/business-34972478
On the surface it makes a lot of sense. Man U dominates SE Asia supporter wise. The Chinese League has a ton of money coming in. Local investors with a vested promotional interest. As for NYFC....yup, fair share of stupidity there. I'll wait to see how they are doing in three years. If they are still averaging the crowds they are it will mean a lot.

Well...huh. I wouldn't say I'm Paul Gardener's defender, but I am the guy who says he deserves a hearing and that if you disagree, give reasons. Saying "oh it's Gardener" is not a argument. So, what to make of this article? Dax seemed to be blaming everyone, not taking a shot at the coach. (He said they were 'out hustled' which coming from a player who is known for hustle sounds like self-criticism to me.) And yes, the Red Bulls can use a truly creative midfielder. But is Dax as limited as he is saying? Is Sasha? Is the Red Bulls system really so hard to discern? I thought they played a lot of attractive soccer this year. But is there so truth to his criticism? Any Red Bullmfans want to give there take?

He mentioned this was the best deal outside of Orlando. For some reason I thought Red Bull Arena was paid for entirely privately.
Yeah, I was waiting for him to drop the hammer. Then he gave the deal a thumbs up, albeit a tentative one.
Not a Red Bull fan, but here's my take. They played a really good team and were 1 centimeter away from taking a two leg series into extra time. Any commentary about "what's wrong with Red Bull" are the moronic rantings of a douchebag.
That's about my take too (as a non-Redbull fan). They lost a guy who was probably the best, most influential player in their history (Henry), controversially canned a coach, won the Supporters' Shield, got some younger/homegrown guys some serious playing time, and came very close to making the final. All while being fairly decent to watch. What's wrong with that?
I'd add that perhaps we could question Marsh's insistence/stubborness of managing over a 2 game series, but not the style. Red Bulls played the season from a position of power that often had them leading or at the very least within a goal of a match. They were able to force the agenda. One sloppy moment had them playing from behind from minute one of the series. Careless 'managing' put them in a 0-2 hole. From that point, sending in crosses to one target was inefficient game plan. Question it? Yes. Criticize it? Not really. There were opportunities to recover. They failed at it.
