espn's app pushed a similar headline to my phone. Univision would love that.

Her fighting spirit also fueled multiple arrests for domestic violence. She is a disgrace and if US Soccer had any balls she would have been kicked off the team years ago.

    *sigh*
For the past couple of days I've been wondering why the over-dramatization by her for just a six-month suspension.
And now I find out there's a camera crew following and recording her for some TV show?

    ********in' anything for Hollywood.

Sort of like Clint Dempsey breaking players faces and assaulting referees? No?

Too bad Clint Dempsey didn't get sent packing from the MNT years ago.

She sort of looked at the camera at one point and very deliberately restated the situation. There was some acting to go along with what I assume was some genuine grief.

Yeah I have to kind of agree here. What Dempsey did, as bad as it was, was "between the lines" as part of a game. What Solo did was very much not. It puts it into two different categories, even if the offenses are similar.

They are not going to make the playoffs with this move unless they're getting Bastian Schweinsteiger:oops: , despite what people said about him he was one their best player.

Since when does an arrest not matter to one's employer?

When you don't get convicted? Also not to split hairs but she was not suspended because of her arrest - indeed when Keith Olbermann of all people was calling for her to be suspended US Soccer refused because they needed her. Now that they don't need her, the suits suspended her because she spoke her mind.

Employers need not wait for a conviction to discipline you. They don't even require an arrest.

She was suspended for participating in the theft and drunken piloting of a US Soccer van. She herself was not arrested (maybe not even detained?), but her husband sure was. And was convicted.

Can we please dispense with the idea that this is because of "cowards" alone? Pretty please?

@Dan Loney actually had a good point about this in his column. Paraphrasing, probably poorly, at the time she was suspended for that the statement from US Soccer said she would be getting pursuing help during that suspension. So either she got that help, "made good" with US Soccer by doing that, and as such served her punishment and that should no longer be held against her. The other option is that she didn't get help, didn't serve her punishment, and is being punished for it now. If so, then how the hell did US Soccer clear her to be back on the team after that?

I've always looked at it as that was her last strike. The USSF said that she had to seek help before she came back but if she f'd up again, then all bets are off.

Not any different than what might happen with one of us at our job. We do something that our employer doesn't like and they tell us don't d anything else dumb or you are getting shit canned. If we go and do something stupid again and they fire us, not because what we did this time was grievous enough to be fired over, but the collection of events are what get us fired.

I don't get this. When a player is not needed in a NT then they should make room for the better players. When a player is so good that she is needed by a team she needs to play so long as she doesn't disrupt the team.

Keeping her around after the van incident is not a problem. It didn't affect the team.
There is no actual evidence that she was suspended for the Sweden comments. Instead I would suspend her for the stupid Zika tweet that turned the crowd against us all the tournament. Also there might be other issues that happened in locker room.
