For some reason that’s triggering something in my head…Universidad de Catolica in Chile?

I think they had a Yank keeper about 20 years ago; I think Johnny Walker played for a Chilean rival.

This is all without googling, just going in memory.

and keep in-mind that the Caps are missing their top 5CBs- Blackmon, Veselinovic, Schonlau, Pupe, Halbouni, a top RB Sam Adekugbe, their top scorer, Brian White, and just coming back from a long-term injury, their explosive captain, Ryan Gauld

its really quite amazing to see how all the players are having an impact

Over in the NASL Files Federal Antitrust Lawsuit Against US Soccer thread, folks are once again arguing the merits of whether Major League Soccer and United Soccer League clubs would be better served by having new clubs adopt / revive the old American-style team branding convention of a place name-and-nickname such as North American Soccer League teams utilized, or by embracing the more traditional international convention of a place name paired with FC, SC, United, or City. The argument against the former is that the resulting identities are cartoony and gimmicky, while the complaint about the latter is that the practice comes across lazy, repetitive pandering.

With regard to the latter, no one seems to blink an eye that a league such as the Chilean Primera División is technically home to at least four Club de Deportes, a pair of Club Deportivo, and both Club Universidad de Chile and Club Deportivo Universidad Católica.

Variety is the spice of life when it comes to soccer club naming conventions. To each their own.
