I wonder if it has anything to do with Leagues Cup disrupting teams' rhythm. NYC went 9 games without a win either side of Leagues Cup, broken with a big win at the Red Bulls. The Red Bulls won 1 in 10 either side of Leagues Cup, which included a 25 day spell without a game. Atlanta has a 3 week break after getting knocked out of LC, then only won one of the next 7, a 1-0 win at Charlotte.
A pretty good ranking from ESPN of the top 5 MLS seasons of all time. I actually agree with them on all the choices. (Spoiler alert, Miami did not make the cut). Where Miami's 2024 ranks among MLS' best seasons of all time
So, they don't seem to be out of rhythm. Maybe the playoffs are just a little harder in a parity league and every team has a weakness?
I love this list as it demands more than just the regular season points. Wished they played that Copa Interamericana still but where could you fit it into the schedule? I know there was talk but it seems to have been put on the back burner once the Club World Cup was reinvented.
I was thinking, shouldn't we honor the Open Cup with an Open Cup forum or should we post under Soccer in the USA? The Fourth Qualifying Round is this week.
There is a thread for the 2025 tournament in this forum: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/2025-u-s-open-cup.2132708/ Or you can post in this forum: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forums/us-open-cup.86/ And it is the 3rd match day this coming weekend. In some groups that is the "4th Round" since they started with the "2nd Round". The 4th match day is in December.
Thanks. I was looking at the side index on a mobile not the full index, so I didn't see the existing forum.
The “Copa Interamericana” is being played on December 11th in Doha, as part of the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup. However, FIFA call it the “Derby of the Americas”.
It's the CONCACAF vs. CONMEBOL match (what used to be called Copa Interamericana) as part of the Interncontinental Cup.

No time on the calendar for anything else. And that graphic is fan made. Miami was never confirmed as a participant.
When was what announced? The FIFA Intercontinental Cup? Details emerged in September: https://www.fifa.com/en/tournaments/mens/intercontinentalcup/2024/articles/bureau-council-update There is no point in playing the “Copa Interamericana” twice. And let’s be honest, the Leagues Cup winner has no business being in any “Copa Interamericana”.
Did you not click on the FIFA announcement? The rumoured four-team Copa Interamericana on the back of some Concacaf-Conmebol agreement was never formally announced, and I don’t see it happening now with the match taking place at the FIFA level.
