Every time i try reading a few threads on the Games section, it feels like I am missing out on what some stuff means. I guess I'm just not used to some terminology... Any help with these would be truly appreciated:
-Patches: what are they and how are they downloaded? from the net, a CD to be purchased?
-In another thread someone refers to "downloading the kit to PS2" I have a PS2. So to do this, must I play online to be able to do this? Buy some product?
-Mod chips... all that i get is that one size does not fit all and that it looks illegal...All the regional crap makes me crazy (some games being zone-dependent?) Do these apparent regional differences refer to North & south of the equator / or to the "Americas" as opposed to the rest of the world?
Again, many thanks to whoever can help out

Patch - A patch is downloaded from the game's website and is used to correct a bug/flaw in the game.

Mod Chip - If I am not mistaken is a chip the let's you play other region games. In the PS1, you could buy a chip for $20-$30 that would allow you to play Asian games.

I can not help you on the kit one.

I think mod chips are even more popular for being able to play burned games. If you get a mod chip then you can rent a game, copy it on your computer and you now "own" the game. I've thought about modding my PS1 but I'm just afraid of opening that bad boy up and soldering stuff to the boards cause I'll likely ************ it up and have to throw the system away.

When I was in Korea, the mod chip was readily available for the PS1. I did not buy it due to the fact I was going to get a PS2 soon. People that did convert it said it was very easyto do.
