Pretty much every prediction about the Anti-Christ - as modern evangelicals perceive such a figure - fits Trump surprisingly well. The one thing they didn't predict is such a figure would be fooling them, not the unbelievers.

Actually, when I was evangelical it was commonly said that the anti-Christ would fool many Christians as well. Of course, they always thought it was the "other" Christians that would get fooled.

Only because his daddy gave a huge donation.

Jared’s whole life is DEI, just the old fashioned kind.

I have a feeling I’m gonna be using the word “pathocracy” a lot. It’s perfect.

    https://www.bps.org.uk/psychologist/problem-pathocracy

We often ask why so many elites fall under his spell. Well, power attracts ********ed up people; every president we’ve had born after WW II has obvious daddy issues. Elon Musk is insane. Zuckerberg and Bezos and the rest are mentally disturbed, they have no sense of what makes life worth living.

In a pathocracy, mentally disturbed people are attracted to a leader who is also mentally disturbed. IOW, the theory is that the powerful people who fall under his spell are just high-class versions of the cliche that Trump is a poor person’s idea of a rich person. Trump is a psychopath’s idea of how a leader should behave.

Oh, and the essay is from 2021. In that sense, it’s like Escape From Freedom being written in 1940.

EDIT: oh man, this essay…in 2021, the writer says that the leader in a pathocracy creates an epidemic of mental illness.

This essay is thread worthy. I was already thinking about how to frame a thread about the meta-issues Trumpism has created, exacerbated, or revealed. Like the ease with which fringe theories nowadays can achieve relevance. Or the problem of transnational elites like Musk or Bezos who work with corrupt leaders with no noblesse oblige whatsoever.

working my way through the essay… @Sounders78 what do you think of the Egalitarian Sanctioning section? I’m talking about what such tribes consider disqualifying for leadership.

Watch the video without any sound to distract you, and just look at her face.

It looks for all the world like she created a 1 inch thick mask of herself to plop onto her face to make it bigger.

    NY Times opinion piece …

“The last year has been one of the most depressing of my nearly 50 years as a journalist. It’s not just that I’ve had to watch the Trump administration destroy cherished alliances, like ours with Western Europe and Canada, that have upheld freedom, democracy and global trade since World War II. It’s also been the stunning cowardice and boundless greed with which leaders of big law firms and Big Tech have bent their knees to King Donald and indulged a cabinet of clowns — not one of whom they’d hire in their own businesses.”

Trump Tells White Reporter Immigrants Don’t Have “Your Genetics”

Speaking on the phone to Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade, Trump complained that while some immigrants simply shouldn’t have been let into the United States, others “go bad.”

“There’s something wrong there. The genetics are not exactly your genetics, it’s one of those problems, Brian,” Trump said. “It’s a terrible thing, and it happens, it happens too often.

  16. The deafening silence of Europe on the existence of and the abuse and murder in these camps are an example of the hypocrisy and lack of moral standards. For things like this we eagerly put ME or African organizations on our terrorist lists.

I've not studied that directly but it is consistent with how egalitarian bands function (not tribes, as that is a different type of political organization that is not being discussed in the section). In bands there is no designated leader, only people who are more influential depending on the subject matter. Selfishness, greed, etc go against group harmony and are discouraged through peer pressure and ultimately ostracism. Someone like the orange pedophile would have been kicked out of the group early on given his anti-social behavior.

That "will be" is incorrect. It is "would have been" if not for heart surgery.

As a side note, if it is from some rando on X or Bluesky, double check in the info.
