What is odd to me about these two mentions of Jesus is, Trump quite obviously isn’t a Christian. Have you two guys not noticed that??? I’m curious why both of you had the same afactual reaction.
I just want to remind people that before COVID hit, Trump was polling as a loser. Assuming he would have won in 2020 without COVID is quite a leap.
I'm not American! My belief is based on past events and current rhetoric. If I am wrong about this, I will be elated (I don't expect to feel elated).
Trump isn't Christian, but he uses religion to appease and control his supporters, at least a significant portion of them.
I'm no expert but the idea that ALL British and French missiles could be intercepted seems pretty unlikely. Some of them would probably get through and kill some tens of millions of Americans. AFAIK both the British and French have nuclear submarine based missiles. There's a pretty big difference between identifying and shooting down the sorts of missiles the Iranians and Hamas have and doing the same thing with an ICBM fired from a nuclear submarine which, (according to professor google's AI thingie), fly at Mach 25, i.e. roughly 18,000 mph during re-entry, seems like a rather tricky prospect... more so if it's fired from a sub near the US coast.
I presented the best case scenario for the U.S. precisely because that scenario would still be very, very bad for them. It's obviously unlikely in a massive exchange that not a single European nuclear weapon would reach its target.
To be fair, most of the people in that picture do the same. This is the lady in red just a few days ago: 🚨WATCH: Donald Trump's 'spiritual advisor' Paula White demands her congregation donate $100,000 to her ministry.Reminder that Paula is worth over $5 MILLION and flies by private jet. pic.twitter.com/AP8rj3jX6P— Canary (@TheCanaryUK) March 6, 2026 https://nitter.poast.org/TheCanaryUK/status/2029772492491890952#m
He's not a Christian based on your definition (whatever the hell it is, given you have for years refused to provide one), but that doesn't mean he doesn't think himself a Christian based on his (limited and flawed) understanding. He has shown a concern for the afterlife, he appears to believe the Christian god exists as opposed to the Muslim god, Hindu gods, etc. I am of the opinion that he thinks he is a Christian, even if he couldn't explain the basic tenets of the religion if his life depended on it. He might fully believe in Jesus and the rapture, even if he couldn't give you any biblical explanation or justification for them. He is incredibly ignorant of the Bible, but that doesn't mean he thinks God isn't real and that his "Christianity" is flawed. He probably does believe he is God's chosen leader for America - it would certainly be consistent with his sociopathological narcissism. Your problem is that your primary concern is how other people's Christianity impacts your identity and so you are quick to judge them based on that. However, what you should be doing is focusing your concern on how they understand their "faith", what it means to their daily life and how it impacts their decisions.
"I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops."
Trump said he doesn’t have anything to be forgiven for. That’s incompatible with believing that Jesus was crucified for our sins. Our symbol is the cross, a reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice and God’s forgiveness. It’s like playing soccer without a ball.
Again, you're thinking in terms of your understanding, not how he might understand things. For example, he theoretically could believe that because Jesus acted as redeemer for the orange idiot's sins, the orange idiot no longer has anything to be forgiven for because it's already been taken care of. You see, you are too wrapped up in your definitions and understandings that you cannot imagine how someone else might view things differently than you. It doesn't matter one iota if you think he is a Christian or not, it matters what he understands and what that means to his life. edit: To elaborate, we don't know exactly what his mother believed. I know she was from the Isle of Lewis, which is an extremely conservative region of Scotland. Back in the day I had my students read an ethnography on a village from Lewis Island. Her background seems consistent with that community.
https://politicalwire.com/2026/03/09/ice-bought-thousands-of-vehicles-it-cant-use/ I take it all back. Nobody needs to protest. These morons are going to destroy themselves.
There are about 1.7 billion Christians repulsed by the Christian Nationalist millennarianism that has taken over the GOP, and maybe 20-30 million so-called Christians who support it. Two of my closest most liberal friends here in the UK (toddler friends) are evangelical Christians, but the downside is my in-laws think Jesus is coming back soon. So I'm pretty familiar with the apostates destroying the good name of your faith.
If only we knew what the Xweet was about. FFS, how hard it that? How many times is that request made?
Seen a similar point made is multiple locations. The one question I'm seeing being asked is how long term this trend becomes. Because those joining are young males, not young females.
We've been told lately everyone must protest hard to stop this regime. No excuses. Join us on the front line, comrade. Well turn this into a socialist utopia with your help!
Right, but that doesn't undermine my theory that he doesn't give a rat's ass about religion, and if it doesn't further the grift for him, he won't lean into it.
He gives a rat's ass about it if it can benefit himself one way or another (including the grift). He might not be religious in the sense he isn't active in a religious community, lives his life by certain teachings, etc., but he certainly seems to like it if people perceive him to be of their faith.
Right but this whole conversation started because of the theory the Orange Crazies have no qualms about hastening the rapture. The rapture ain't conducive to the grift is my point.
I agree with you there. I would say different people in the administration have different motivations.
