There’s an annual meeting between all governors and the president. Trump has disinvited Jared Polis and Wes Moore. But he did invite a couple of his leading tormentors, Pritzker and Newsom.

Polis is gay and Moore is black, if you’re trying to figure out why. (And Polis is a pretty awful progressive/Democrat; if he were in the Senate we’d be comparing him to Fetterman and Sinema. So there’s NO CHANCE it’s about ideology.)

I wish all Democratic governors would boycott this in solidarity.

I’ve only seen the still image, and it’s notable that the creator of the video put Michelle’s face on the one on the left, the closer one, and Barack’s face on the one on the right. Our eyes scan left to right, and Michelle was more prominent, which to me means the creator of the video is more sexist than racist.

I saw an image this morning of a tweet from Radley Balko from 2020 that defined the cycle. A quick perusal of what I’ve looked at this morning came up empty, so I can’t post it. Anyway, the format was about how Trump’s defenders try out various defenses, and how he then makes a statement contradicting that defense.

Leavitt said it was a joke, and someone else(s) blamed a staffer, only to have Trump say no, I did it, and I’m not going to apologize.

I’ll say again, it’s still weird that this weird little hangout for fans of soccer on a message board old enough to be elected to the Senate who also care about politics have a better grip on Trump and Trumpism than our elite. It was one thing to be normalizing him in 2015, or 2016, and maybe even 2017. Normalizing him after J6 is choosing to be blind. Those who have won the game of Our System just aren’t going to start telling us that the game has stupid rules and is hopelessly outdated and corrupt and needs to be completely uprooted.

Whats that saying…it’s hard to get a man to believe something when his paycheck requires him to not believe it.

As for myself, the last month has made me moderately more hopeful that America will reject Trumpism, but somewhat less hopeful that we will do much to fix the systemic rot he has exposed.
