Anybody want to guess what percentage of U.S. imported steel comes from China? 2%. OK, 3% in a big year.
Basically, Trump's strategy is to be geometrically more corrupt than any president in history and count on the establishment (media, political, etc.) to be overwhelmed by the venality into inaction, or at best inadequate action. Can you think of an explanation for this that doesn't involve incompetence or disloyalty? I can't.State Dept. Was Granted $120 Million to Fight Russian Meddling. It Has Spent $0. https://t.co/XW8yIBZUnX— hilzoy is moving ... @hilzoy.bsky.social (@hilzoy) March 5, 2018
The thing is...He is right. I dont like the choice of comparative. Ms. Parks, and the citizens she represented, were actually being oppressed. His analogy looses relevance there. However, BunnyBoots doesnt need a reason to videotape a police station either. 'Because you dont get to tell me I cant' is perfectly acceptable as a response. Just dont play the weepy 'Im being oppressed' card when it doesnt fit.
No, it's a failed comparison. There is no constitutional right to own an AR-15. There is a right to "bear arms," which may or may not include an AR-15, depending upon how the legislature and courts decide. I don't see how that has the least bearing on the right that somebody has to go about their business without being singled out because of skin color, which was the case for Ms. Parks.
Why did the Obama Administration start an investigation into the Trump Campaign (with zero proof of wrongdoing) long before the Election in November? Wanted to discredit so Crooked H would win. Unprecedented. Bigger than Watergate! Plus, Obama did NOTHING about Russian meddling.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 5, 2018
My point being that if something is legal, or constitutionally protected (Which this may or may not be) it requires no justification. I dont have to justify refusing a search, for example.
I agree but wonder what more could he have done. He issued a public warning about Russia tampering which was all but ignored by the public. Tried to provide federal support at the state level but was met with resistance by SOS's at the state level. He even tried to gain bipartisan support from Congress to offer a stronger public warning but was faced with resistance by the GOP. I think the only real step he could have done beyond all he did do was enter an aggressive cyber warfare campaign against Russia.
He was also conflicted about what to tell Trump during the transition, knowing how much Trump was involved with Russia and Putin.
Of course its easy to say now, stand up and shout. Loud. And often. And yes, it would have probably been met with the 'lyin' Muslim Kenyan is trying to ruin the country.' And witht he chaos of Russians, fake news, the (I assume) belief that Clinton was going to win (and how the Trump "the election is rigged" post-narrative would have been) But they should have been far more forceful as the chief executive. Screw Mitch McConnell's protests. At the very least it would have resounded much stronger than with the actual messages that were sent.
Maybe Obama passed on the meddling info with assumption Dirty Donnie would go hard after the Russians. He did put some sanctions on them before he left.

19. These Nunberg call-ins remind me of when Howard Stern fans prank call during major news events...I've been waiting to Nunberg to throw in a reference to "Baba Booey"— Yashar Ali 🐘 (@yashar) March 5, 2018
Sam Nunberg just fucked Donald Trump so badly, that Michael Cohen just wrote him a check for $130,000.— YS (@NYinLA2121) March 5, 2018
You’re going to want to invest 45 seconds in this. Here's CNN's Erin Burnett telling former Trump aide Sam Nunberg that she can smell alcohol on his breath. He says he hasn't been drinking. pic.twitter.com/tryye9AiqA— Jim Dalrymple II (@Dalrymple) March 6, 2018
I dunno, it seems like something of an honor to be disliked by Nunberg. And his credibility isn't too high, either. I guess he reflects badly on who Trump hires --- but everybody outside the base knew that long ago. And the base isn't angry. More chance for one of them to get hired.
True. China does export lots of steel all over the world, but not much to the US. And their biggest market right now is their own. They are not too concerned about this, other than the possibility that the US under Trump will start messing irresponsibly with other industries in the same fashion Canada, on the other hand, is the biggest exporter of steel to the US. Talk about screwing your own allies.
The new Fake News narrative is that there is CHAOS in the White House. Wrong! People will always come & go, and I want strong dialogue before making a final decision. I still have some people that I want to change (always seeking perfection). There is no Chaos, only great Energy!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 6, 2018
