If built in 1985 in the US, there's very little chance that the popcorn ceiling has asbestos. I think by 1975 it was outlawed, although some ceiling tiles and other products may have been used for decades. I think Canada still has huge asbestos mines and makes products for countries that DGAF or don't have a strong enough government to actually enforce standards.

The theatre I went to as a kid was a grand old country opera house. Like if the Opry was in a town of 11,000 souls. But by the 80's it was just showing movies, a few weeks later than they got shown in the big city. And over the curtains and the screen in an unmissably giant beaux artes font was the word "ASBESTOS."

I presume it was to ease our fears that we would all die in a fire®.

I’m willing to bet that half these people at this Michigan hearing are from Macomb County.

 

My first job was at an arena. During the summer I’d work at two outdoor venues that the arena owned and operated. This woman is every drunk woman I saw at those venues, tailgating for 6 hours, at a 80s hair metal show or a country show.

I have been out of the loop for about 2 weeks. Is this actually the State of Michigan entertaining Rudy and his circus in a sworn state assembly? How did I miss this and who thought it would be a good idea to give credence to this fiasco?

Or is this the Michigan version of a local 4 Season Total Landscaping press conference, next to a dildo store and a crematorium?
