Been hearing discussion of what our front three should be called. The 91'ers had the Triple Edged Sword. We should bring that back.
How about: "The Lion, the tiger and the bear?" Oh my??? Or, since the three have some pretty fair backups and backup each other quite well., "The Gorgons." (From mythology. Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa) Or, "The Three Moirai" (Also from mythology.) I like this one the best of the three so far but my suggestions might be a bit too esoteric for many. Or we could go with the meaning of that last and call them (Using the English) "The Fates" or simply "Fate."
If I recall correctly, the Santa Clara trio of Sofia Huerta, Julie Johnson (now Ertz), and a third whose name I don't recall was called the "three-headed monster."
In the commentary on the Australia game, they are talking about a nickname, and said "Gen Z Three" had been proposed. Then Foudy said that didn't work since all 3 are millennials. I don't really like the nickname, but Foudy was wrong since they are definitely all 3 Get Z. The youngest millennials now are 28 years old, and even the oldest of the front 3 Swanson is 26, so definitely Gen Z.
Guess this can be closed now, they named themselves: https://www.nbcolympics.com/news/uswnts-red-hot-attacking-trio-wants-nickname-triple-espresso
Bah, could have juiced it up a bit... Venti iced americano 3 shots decaf with almond milk, extra ice, 3 honey, 3matcha, triple blended, triple cupped, and split into three tall cups (x3)
Came here to post the same: "Triple Espresso" it is, LOL!! Because who needs caffeine when these 3 are playing and scoring?!
Apparently the trio prefers the nickname Triple Espresso: Mallory Swanson, Sophia Smith & Trinity Rodman from @teamusa @USWNT have announced they have a name for themselves ☕☕☕ pic.twitter.com/JifIQ6PFC1— TODAY (@TODAYshow) August 8, 2024
As someone posted on Youtube, it is rather appropriate considering they are being backed up by Coffey.
