PFDC - KUALA LUMPUR, Japanese playmaker Shunsuke Nakamura (28) of Celtic Glasgow was full of praise for his Iranian counterpart Ali Karimi (28) in an interview with the Asian Football Confederation's official homepage on Sunday.

Asked about which Asian players impressed the sizzling leftfooter, Nakamura named Bayern Munich's Ali Karimi, describing him as "a player who has both technique and physical strength of a very high standard". Nakamura added that Karimi has "vast experience too".
Shunsuke Nakamura and Ali Karimi are two of the most inspiring players of Asia and were the stars of the 2004 Asian Cup. While the Japanese was selected as the MVP of the tournament, the Iranian was finally named the Asian Player of the Year 2004.

However, while Nakamura, who had played for Reggina Calcio in Serie A before, is a fixed player at Celtic Glasgow, Karimi, after a good first half-season and a following heavy leg injury, meanwhile doesn't play a role at Bayern Munich anylonger.

I agree with you on that point that was very stupid of Karimi. If he only went to athletico madrid when he was 19 he could have been something else today. My point of this thread is that Karimi had the skill and vision of no other Asian player I have seen. Every game he played in his prime against whoever he would cause damage in the world cup play off between ireland and Iran, Everytime Karimi got the ball he would cause massive damage dribbling past all the defenders but the keeper stopped him one on one on 3 occasions. Trust me if you had seen Karimi play in his prime you would have been at the edge of your seat the whole match.

Karimi looks like a good player from the videos.

Iran team will have been stronger if he was there.
