Libertyville? Any ideas where? Maybe that new indoor sports center they have at the corner of 45 and Peterson Road. Any news as to whether the public is allowed in at the same time? Times?

  3. Fire Insider said Dave S. would be at the Sports Complex in Libertyville next Wed. from 4-5:30.

Maybe some players will still be hanging around?

Since this is taking a Lake County turn -
anyone here know of soccer/fire friendly bars around Lake county?

You guys are from Libertyville and Grayslake. Figure it out. :p

  5. Somehow I don't seem to have the inside connections that it seems most posters have. But I'll see if I can find anything out.

Be weird to actually contribute a FACT to BS : - )

  6. Well - some fact finder I am.

I called the Libertyville Sports Complex to ask if the Fire would be practicing there (Why not try the direct route, right?). The helpful but clueless Simpson's Teenager soundalike who picked up the phone put me on hold for a couple of minutes to tell me that Dave Sarachan would be there next week which I already knew. He didn't know anything about the Fire practicing there.

If what the Trib is reporting is correct, I cannot imaging anywhere else in Libertyville that they might be training. So either they are somewhere else I can not imagine, or they are keeping it low key at the LSC, or the kid I talked to was just clueless. I wouldn't be surprised though if they were trying to keep publicity to a minimum. Who wants to have the first practices of the year with a bunch of suburban kids hanging around?

Anyone else from this area have any insights?

The other option is to go hang around the Complex to see if they are there, but since I work during the day, that is not going to happen.

    training in L-Ville

Next week's training sesions are at the L-Ville Sports Complex. They're scheduled for mid-morning each day. While we're not promoting it to the general public, i think it wouldn't be a problem for a few BS users to stop in and watch.

Participants include players who are already in town - CJ, Jesse and Chris, a couple semi-local draft picks (Ryan Mack and Chad Dombrowski) and 10 or so trialists, including three members of Wave United - Jeff Richey, Jason Russell and David Henning, Matt Knowles, Paul Dolinsky, Nick Walls and Jovan Milojevich.

Full squad outdoor training begins the following week in Bradenton, Florida.

  8. Thanks Peter!

You make it easy for us fans to really appreciate you.

It's also pretty cool that for you, logging on to BS is business related : - ) You're not blowing off your work like the rest of us : - )

There you go guys! It pays to pay attention to Big Soccer : - )

Sadly, unless there are weekend practices, the mid-morning time slot is not going to happen for me. Don't think the boss would appreciate me skipping out on work.

If anyone stops by, make sure to fill us in with a little report.

It's exciting that this offseason is coming to a close.

If you can stop by do so. Way back when I was in high school I used to ride my bike to Wheaton College to watch the Bulls pre-season training. There would be a couple hundred people watching the likes of Sloan, Van Lier, Walker, Love, etc. running through Dick Motta's practices & then a 30-40 minute scrimmage. Just try to get close to a Bulls practice now without a press pass.

    Peter, is mid-morning 10:00 am?

I may be able to scoot up for Friday's session -- out of town the rest of the week.

If so, I will do a bit of a write up.
