I remember reading a few years back that Trezeguet would like to play in the Argentina league when he is close to his later career. He mentioned he wanted to play for River. Do you Riverista's see this happening in the future ?

Ah, damn it, you got me excited for a minute: I thought that this post was going to be related to a link that mentioned it was an actual possibility for this pre-season. :(

But yeah, he's been a River fan since he was a little kid, so just like Camoranesi, he mentioned he wanted to end his career in River. Honestly, I don't see it happening. He's already getting into the latter stages of his career, and the possibilities of him joining "la banda" any time soon appear slim to none.

We'll see though. I wouldn't be surprised if he arrives when he's old and useless, ala Chileno Salas.

That's what I worry about, if he comes when he's old and useless like Salas is now: There won't be any point. He could be Romario though, scoring well into his 40's. hehehe

I hope he comes back, when he's still playing at a high level. All these top players coming back to Argentina give prestige to the league.

I'd rather it would not be River, but if he wants to play for River, so be it. It will be good for Argentine football.

I'd rather keep Falcao and the money, Falcao is younger and we can buy another forward with the money we'd have to spend on Trez, both salary and transfer wise.

This is an old thread, created by aerez two years ago. Well, it seems like now his illusion could become a reality. Though there isn't any official confirmation (or even rumors) that River have contacted Trezeguet in regards to bringing him in as a reinforcement, I believe there could be some sort of possibility of it happening in June.

The Juventus forward always stated that he wanted to play for River before retiring. I remember reading an interview with Trezeguet about six months ago in which he stated that he is going to leave Juve in June 2010 and that his plan was to return to Argentina after that. With him being a River fan and the fact that he already got the nod from the Italians to leave, I think he could actually be a pretty accessible and realistic incorporation for June as long as Passarella initiates the negotiations before another team does.

Hopefully we'll start seeing more updates on this topic soon. We could really use him up front.

    I'm a prophet.

ASF you make it sound as if everyone wants to play for Boca, even River fans. Keep dreaming. :p

Personally I'd love to see Trezeguet come and play for River. He's only 32 and will turn 33 later this year so I think he has a few years left in him. He'd be the perfect mentor to "Keko" and Funes Mori, plus from a marketing standpoint, I think it would work great. I for one would buy the new River jersey with his name and num ber on the back.

Well, watching the Juventus versus Fulham Europa League match right now, three minutes in to extra time Trezeguet just smoked one off the post...the rebound came back to him and it was put in the back of the net.
