They're going to advance out of their spectacularly bad group with 6 points and a GD of 0 (2-goal wins v. Tunisia and Panama, 4-goal loss to Belgium), maybe win a Round of 16 game against the Group H winners (Poland or Colombia), and then get ********ing smoked by Germany in the quarterfinals.
Not that he was ever gonna play for the USMNT, but TAA official became cap-tied to England today when he played for them against Belgium. Kid did pretty well, too.
I'm going to add this here because an MIB interview can stir up some interest: TRUE STORY: Trent Alexander-Arnold was USMNT eligible...and he loves America. 🇺🇸🦅Watch the full interview on YouTubehttps://t.co/nKOvnQr2p4 pic.twitter.com/peQs11qr0a— Men in Blazers (@MenInBlazers) January 20, 2023 Late in the interview, he says his mom is American, but never says he is an American or has a US passport. That's in keeping with the previous explanation that his Nan moved to the US and married an American, but that his mother was born & raised in the UK. Assuming mom never lived the required 5 years in the US before he was born, she doesn't pass along US citizenship. The only way to do that would have been for them to move to the US before he was 18 and he would have become a US citizen on the spot. But now, all she can do is sponsor him for a Green Card and he'd have to go through the naturalization process while living part of the time in the US. So, only in the most stretched definition of the term would he have been "eligible" for the USMNT.
