Has Seth Trembly earned a full roster spot or will he be released now that his Project 40 status has expired? I see the club announced that both Kyle Beckerman (P-40) and Nate Borchers (Dev) have been offer full contracts. Since Seth was not mentioned I assume his situation is not secure with the team. Thoughts or insights?

He did tear an ACL and something else before the end of the season and we really haven't heard too much since then.

    Home cooking debacle!

Trembley has squandered a promising carrer in Denver. IMO, he has failed to develop as a P-40 and as a person. Returning home to live with his parents and hang out with his old youth teammates and school buds has been disasterous. Needing to get out of the nest, stretch his wings, educate himself and challange his talent and psyche, he chose comfort. The payment begins now.

Although, still young enough to resurrect his soccer career does he have the guts to face his new reality?

IMO only a lack of an 11th man on the Rapids could keep this slacker on the team!

Oh now you know the players private lives..INTERESTING! What 18 year old is really out on their own at that age? Most are starting college on a scholarship or mom and dad pay. he had the best of both worlds.. Playing professional soccer and saving money. Now at 21 he owns his own place. what 21 year old can say that.! He got hurt so will stay on project 40 another year. That doesn't mean he is a failure. There are many others who are also on project 40 It really means nothing other than teams can bring in other players...

Considering he wasn't even finished with HIGH SCHOOL when he originally signed, I'd like to know where you get the 'returned home to live with his parents' notion.

    Arise the apologists!

Owns his own house does he? Or has he or someone else i.e. Mommy & Daddy, paid a downpayment and the bank owns "his" house?

P-40 allows MLS to bring along young players and an opportunity for young players to develop in a professional environment. How many 4 year P-40's
    have been in MLS? ?Any?

Continuing to stroke Trembley's ego has not helped up to now and it is unlikely to do so in the future. In my view, the "adulation" he has likely received as the local hero has eroded his development.

In contrast at the same age other U-17 teammates left the comforts of home to test the waters, i.e. Donovan, Beasley, Beckerman, Convey, Countess, Yi, Oguchi, etc. IMO they are all better for it! Moving out of ones comfort zone helps to expand ones skills and insights and becomes an important ingredient to maturing as an athlete or a person for that matter!

Good Lord! This thread is getting ridiculous. How many people do you know who have paid off their mortgages?

I for one hope Trembly heals during the offseason and will be back next season, and I don't care where he lives.

    the point was...

My question in starting this thread was....will Trembly be back as a full roster player or will he be released since his P-40 status is exhausted? Any thoughts on that....I was more interested in him as player then any personal issues.

    Numbers salvation!

Trembley has not played up to his advanced billing. He does not justify a full roster slot. His only hope is the dismal lack of bench players with the side. Because of this he and others may make the roster undeserved.

And all he has to do is somehow survive this season. Next year (2005) the player pool is going to get stretched very thin with 2 more teams. He'll have a much better chance of maintaining a spot on somebody's bench as there will be lots of roster holes around the league.

If *I* were the GM I would loan him to an A-Leauge side for all of next year and then try to get draft picks or a trade for him in 05 with the new teams looking for MLS "experienced" players.

My bet is we keep him as a third option in midfield. While I don't think he's a starter, in the games he played last year he contributed. He does have a nice touch, he's scrappy as hell, and moves well off the ball. Maybe he'd grow as a person and a player somewhere else, I don't know. Not knowing the kid personally all I see is the game he played on the field, which was better than I expected at the beginning of the season.

Seth Trembly was spotted with Bill Brasky in Myanmar this XMAS. Apparently he was trying out for a local team there and trying to see what life was like outside Littleton.

is there a doctor in the house???

IMO, Seth's five-hop goal this year precluded by his seven step run will never be seen again in MLS and the last thing the Rapids need is another 5'5 player cruising the pitch. Homegrown or not, it is time for Seth to go back to school and the Rapids to commit to a playmaker worth keeping. Scrappy or not, that kid is on a hit list a mile long due to his nipping at the heals of others and another date in the ER is only getting closer if he makes it to the pitch again.

That said, here's hoping for a healthy recovery for the yound lad.

He sucks ... lose him ... replace him with someone that could turn into our next Borchers.

    He's worn out his welcome.

Replace him with a "gasp" lower round draft pick or unheralded developmental pickup??? ;)

Trembly should be off the team. Finding a replacement for him is not going to be a challenge. While having some decent games now and again, his play hasn't been all that spectacular.

Plus, even more important, not only has his play not been all that good, but his brashness, attitude, hot-headedness and disrespect on the field are far more advanced than his skills.

Its one thing when Carrieri (who scores and assists on goals and generates offense - usually) or Mastroeni (a solid defensive mid who is becoming a fixture with the national team) or Spencer has a little attitude. Seth Trembly has not earned the right to have that swagger, and we got lucky this year, but it will hurt a LOT in the future.

Sorry, we need more bite, less bark from our players.

    You're damn tootin! :-D

I'd take just about anyone over Trembly if he takes a full roster spot.

He won't take a full roster spot ...he's still P-40.

He's not even worth the P-40 status...

He is one out of two on sitters, and he couldn't defend his shadow...

I mean, really, what does he bring to the team besides Prom dates?

Donovan : Said to have been brought in to San Jose , CA. because he had FAMILY there, I thought his DAD accompianed him overseas as well... could be wrong on that one but I know they said because of his age being in CA. with a parent was part of the decision...

Convey: Same thing, family in DC... Convey in DC.

    Adu: Same thing...

Get him out of here. Damm right he has worn out his welcome. Local kid, who cares! Like Bob Gansler said he is just a little cocker spaniel running around without a purpose.

    Re: Re: Arise the apologists!

Difference is Convey was only 16 and still in high school, Adu is only 14. I think it really depends on the individual kid at that age and what the living situation will be. But by 22, it's definately time to let go of mommy and daddy's hands. (Especially since he has absolutely NOTHING to offer this team)

GO ROCKIES!! And take Seth Trembly with you.
