Few questions that I was hoping someone could answer for me. 1.Some of us are staying in a hotel about 5 mins away from the park. Is there any kind of transit to the stadium? We didn;t really want to drive. 2. Any night life option after the game, again right in that surrounding area? 3. Is there a specific location where we can mingle and do some tailgating with a supporters group? (obviously willing to chip in a few dollars for any food/drink)
Not that I am aware of. Is it the hotel right by the baseball park? If so, you will be able to walk easily. There is a Dave and Buster's, a Yardhouse, a place called Jazz, and a few other restaurants within walking distance of the stadium but if you want a real bar hopping scene, you will need to go downtown. Lot F is where most of the tailgating happens.
For reference, here's the parking map. If you are at the Country Inn and Suites then you are actually at the thing labeled "Motel" above lot H. Also, most of the tailgaiting is closest to the stadium in Lot F as Lot F is rather large. http://www.sportingkc.com/stadium/parking
If you like beers, the Yardhouse is great. Stays open till either 1 or 2am. It has a large selection of beers on tap, and cute bartendresses. They have a night happy hour (food/drink) which starts conveniently for soccer fans at 10:00pm real time (not bar time). Its about an eight minute walk, heading W/NW, from the north side of the stadium. (Fair warning re over-serving: My friend was recently questioned there by the manager for being too, um, loquacious, i.e. "ordering 4 pints" in a short period of time, though he was nothing but respectful to staff and a good patron. And yes, kinda odd considering they serve some beers by the yard. Probably a freak incident).
Oh, and if you or any HSH stickerize my apartment doors again, I will find you, and take a giant sh** on you.
I have never seen this word before in my life... but I am willing to shuffle it into my lexicon... cheers
Last year Cbus' finest took the liberty of plastering some stickers (pretty sure Hudson St. Hooligan) on the front doors of my apartment building, and garage entrance. It was comical; however, since my Leasing agent keeps an apparent McCarthy list of soccer fans in the building, I caught extra-judicial residual flack for this obvious act of soccer related vandalism. (Confession: I have a little history of politely taping SKC headlines from the KC Star, and Cauldron flyers, to the elevator's interior and next to resident mailboxes).
You can drink them when you beat us again. We know we suck and it starts with the coach and "technical" director.
