If it's a friendly against Mexico it will be at a big stadium not at an SSS.

I hope it's in a big NE or PNW stadium so we can bitch out the NE and/or PNW fans that don't show up

    6pm-8pm PDT or 9pm-11pm EDT

6 PM is too early for a game to start on a weeknight. 9pm is too late for a game to start.

Central Time would put it at 8 PM.

Where do those two teams like to play? Dallas? Houston? Chicago? USSF gets the money and gets the players used to a hostile environment. KC does have their new stadium, but USSF would be foolish to put it there, as they'd lose out on a lot of revenue.

    Dallas, Houston, Chicago make sense...

    Maybe something crazy like Indianapolis?

I hope the Midwest and West Coast complain more about not getting games even though they got the most during the 2010 WCQ cycle

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it last year that US / Mexico was scheduled to be played in Oakland before tv rights closed the deal last minute?

If this were supposed to be Oakland, why would it be at 6 PM local time? Double-header perhaps? ... but who would the second match feature? Keep in mind there are no MLS matches scheduled for that date.

Re: RUMOR: US v Mexico August 10th

I'm not saying it's going to be in Oakland but last year (I think) there was a supposed 'done deal' to have a US / Mexico game in Oakland before tv rights fell through. I don't know where this particular rumored game will be played (hope its Bay Area)!

I know. I'm just saying that 6 PM local time does not make sense, unless the TV schedule is so tentative that they have nothing for the rest of the night other than time-filler which can easily be moved around.

Could be a central time game like you mentioned.

You gotta remember, California is the biggest state. Northern California hasn't had a US game since 2007. Catching a game for us down in SoCal is like traveling along the eastern seaboard (NYC to DC for example) but longer.

Me too! We need a NT game up here. I know mexico's GC opener in Oakland drew over 80K fans.

Which GC opener? You mean when they played Nicaragua? The former Coliseum has a capacity of about 55,000 plus give or take in a sellout.

I don't know if I could handle a month-long boner like that. It would be the best thing ever.

This is a FRIENDLY, meaning I couldn't care less about the result and I hope USSF plays this game wherever they can make the most money. Most likely, that is Dallas or maybe NYC. USSF needs to make as much money as they can from these friendlies (that for all intents and purposes is worthless other than getting some new players integrated into the team) so that we can play the World Cup Qualifiers in cozy 20k seat stadiums with Pro-US support.
