sorry to be flakey, but can´t commit to the bus thing at this time. there are 4 of us, but if we do end up meeting you at the pre'pregame bar then we´ll lock in there for sure.
I'll take it! I tried to call/text you but it didn't go through. My number is 707-365-1729, email dakotajanderson@gmail.com. Text or email me when you get a chance. I'm in El Salvador now but I'm coming up to Guatemala City on Monday for the festivities. Hopefully I can meet up with you guys pre match so we can roll in together.
Met AJ on the plane. Maybe thats why he didn't get your text. If it doesn't work out with him, uibkt in the hotel Barcelo got me two tickets.
ok i found someone to come with me, so i'm actually looking for 2 tickets now. and we are down for the bus if there's room. anyone with tickets please email dakotajanderson@gmail.com. thank you!!
Tonight we are going to the Hacienda Restaurant at about 830. There are five of us going if you want to meet up
Figure might be easier for bus to meet us at Hotel Conquistador? I got my tickets through a friend here. Unbelievable how they run things so tight like this. Any idea on a head count? Everyone please aim to meet up at La Cantera Guatemala and, if possible, WEAR RED! Euro games on Tuesday for viewing at bar per-game: Greece vs Czech 11am Poland vs Russia 1:45pm
We are in Flores right now. Going to Tikal tomorrow. Going to Rio Dulce on Monday and should be back in Guatemala City Monday evening.
I won't be there, but I went to a Sounders game in that stadium last year. A few things about the stadium that hopefully help you with your trip: 1) the tribuna section is an entire sideline with proper terraces, the stadium is a horseshoe . 2) stadium security will want you to go in as a group, and I think they'll put you at the end of the section away from the curve. This will put you as far from the Guatemalan ultras as possible. 3) get on good conditions with the stadium security. They will have on flak vests, some in riot gear, some with shotguns, some with automatic rifles. 4) stick together. My group was jumped in the parking lot before the game. They stole our tifo but after that things didnt go so well for them. 5) after the game, stay in your section as long as possible. Keep everyone together. The parking lot will take a very long time to get out of. We were assaulted again on our walk out, despite having an escort from the riot police. Rocks, bricks, glass bottles were thrown at us. Several of us were hit. When we got to our van, they continued throwing things at us. Several bricks and bottles hit the van, we had broken tail lights by the time we got out of there. Bottom line: be careful, be aware of whats going on around you, and keep each other safe. All that said, guatemala is beautiful and it was the best trip i've ever done. I would have gone back if i had enough vacation time. Have fun!!
Just noticed this match is at Estadio Mateo Flores, the match I went to was at Estadio Cementos Progreso. So the details of the stadium are a little off, but the issues of security are still valid. Be careful, have fun!
I just bought my Tribuna ticket at La Torre Supermarket next to the Oakland Mall in Zona 10. They accept local Visa or cash only. They close at 2 today. Forget about todoticket and go there.
Thanks guys for the updates. I'll post this for anybody that is still without a ticket. And apologies in advance for putting my faith into todoticket.....those bastards.... This is the official ticket locations. All point of sale, nothing online. http://fedefutguate.org/index.php?news=1670
Uibkt held a ticket for me before I got here. If you still aren't in country and want to reserve one send them an email.
Here's the latest news about tickets. http://www.prensalibre.com/tododepo...ta-entradas-Guatemala-Unidos_0_716328437.html General norte and sur are sold out. Palco almost sold out. Tribuna and Preferencia about 60% sold. My Guatemalan friends bought me a ticket and opted for Preferencia, since they thought the prices are excessive. That's where I'll be. Thanks to their efforts, I have a ticket. Otherwise, I would have been scrambling today to find one. They were shocked that the USSF couldn't help us with tickets like the last two cycles.
More information for any travelling fans still looking for tickets. I received this information from US Soccer: We have been informed that U.S. fans looking to purchase tickets in the U.S. fan section can do so by going to the FEDEFUT offices anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, June 11 or Tuesday, June 12. Here is the address and contact information for the FEDEFUT offices: 2a. Calle 15-57, Zona 15 Boulevard Vista Hermosa GUATEMALA CITY 01015 Phone: +502/2315 7777
NOW they get around to solving the ticket issue??? Wow. If match tickets had been easier to come by, I'd have gone to this game again. Arrgh.
Got the same info tis morning when I had Internet for I've seconds. I arrive in Guatemala City tomorrow afternoon. Been in the northern half of the country all weekend. Any chance somebody in town can go down there and button this up? Find out where we should meet them at the stadium on the day of the ********ing game. We are still being placed together in the stadium but I imagine they are doing this be because FIFA/CONCACAD makes them. I strongly encourage all traveling American fans to sit togethern in the same section for safety reasons. Or perhaps call them? I don't have a cell phone that works in huge chunks of Central America.. Need to rectify that for future trips.
