I also have been to Colombia, I was there last April for about 10 days.

I went with a good friend of mine and traveled to various towns. We were in Cali and then rented a car to travel to Tulua, Calima, and Buga. We were in Tulua for easter weekend which ment a lot of people from Cali or came down. It was a tight atmosphere beautiful women, music, chapagne, agua ardiente, more women. I had the best time there and looking into doing a road trip across Colombia.

I did get to meet people in the "industry" and got to hear some of their stories. To tell you the truth, i thought Colombia was very safe and never once saw anything of violent behavior while there. I mentioned this to some people and they responded that "you never know if someone is connected and if you make or cause violence it maybe your last day"

Other then that i did experience some downs mostly in the airports. In Cali we got stopped and got searched from the Police on motorcycles, they got suspicious seeing a tinted windowed car in Cali with Medellin license plates.

I got x rayed at the Cali airport and asked a bunch of questions. When I arrived in Miami again i got interagated for more than an hour ( i guess since they saw that ive been to Bolivia, Mexico and Colombia all in a spand of 4 months)

other then that Colombia was the best

I'm glad you found the atmosphere enjoyable, but yea the "million" questions at the airport is ruitine now, everytime they ask me the same questions - "Who packed your bags?" "Where has your luggage been since packing it?" "Have you received any kind of packages from anybody?" and all that. When I was leaving Armenia, at the airport they search all of our luggage, but it was done in front of us. In Bogotá it was x-rayed, same in Miami before they put it in the plane to Dulles International.

(me cobraron 23 mil pesos).

It must be Andes. I visited the cultural center in Jardin and they had a display of famous Jardineros, and Leo Alvarez wasn't up there.

Driving south from Medellin, there's a mountain shaped like a pyramid called Cerro Tusa. Fascinating country.

Well, for the second time I have visted Cartagena, and I can say that I was thoroughly impressed and enjoyed myself. Knowing a bit of Spanish helped me have a great time, and unlike some of my "co-workers", I appreciated the people more instead of the booze and bars. I have a couple of "connects" there, one of which is a guide in the Old Town and the other a female friend, one who is a legit woman. I was able to take part in painting a school in the barrio Daniel Lemaitre. Honestly, the women watching, the music, the food, my Colombian pals, all of that was cool, but to see those kids see a freshly painted school, done within a few hours was truly priceless. We also played a challenging game versus the kids. I can tell you that these 6-10 year old boys had sick skills, so it was honestly not too tough, although I scored a goal. But footwork on the Colombian youth is quite dangerous!
I closed the day and my time there with a night at Cafe Del Mar, a nice chill place overlooking the sea. The downtempo electronica was right up my alley also and the vibe there is quite refreshing. would I go back to Colombia? Yes, as long as they maintain the city well.

Was this article in El Universal by chance? Well, depending on who you ask, I'm "not" in the military;) But you know, finding a Millonarios jersey, well, one that was authentic was tough. I'm kicking myself because I could have bought a bootleg for a very low price.
