I am going to be in D.C. on business during the week of Oct. 21, and due to airline savings (nice excuse), I just realized I will be in the same general area as the MLS Cup. (Especially by Texas standards). I've taken the train up from DC to NYC, which was a breeze. Is it much more of a fight to get up to Boston? What is the recommended method of travel from DC to Boston, in other words if I am going to try to get up for the game?
Providence is closer and cheaper than Boston. You could fly Southwest from Baltimore to Providence and take a hefty cab ride. You could take Amtrak to Providence and then either 1) take a cab (cheaper than the airport) or 2) switch to a local train to Mansfield. You could take Amtrak to Boston/Rte 128 and take a cab ( cheapest cab ride of all). You could fly to Boston (Logan) and 1) take a very hefty cab ride or 2) take the blue line to South Station and then take either the local or Amtrak to Boston/RTE 128.
Just one correction to avoid confusion...the Blue line doesn't go directly to South Station. You have to switch twice: Blue to Orange to Red or Blue to Green to Red. More info available at http://www.mbta.com. -Amy
Thanks. If we are talking about a 1:30 game, is travelling by train and cab, on game day, even an option???
Fly to providence, rent a car, charge it to Enron. Cabs should be available at Bosaton & providence. But, on the way back.....?
If the Revs are in it, then there might be a train straight from South Station to the game. So you should be rooting for the Revs to simplify your travel life. P.S. You can't take any bags into Gillette Stadium and they won't hold your bag either.
