Saw Trasker & Dema over the weekend at Jerry Yeagley's retirement party. Rumor out is DC looks good but there is no way Adu is 14. Dema said he is legit though...he is going to turn some heads this year. Trask is jobless but heading over to Fulham to try to find a job. Why was he so looked down upon at DC?
Let's not get into the age debate again. He's 14 and has been checked out twice by two different sources. It's legit. Plus, when you meet the kid in person, you know he's 14. 3 years of mediocrity. Where did you see these guys?
The problem is you have a guy like Eddie Pope as a franchise along w/ Marco. Thise guys need to get outta town and let the new, young talent get over. Did you ever see those to kids from Ghana play at Maryland (Siba and Sumed)? They were older then everyone else. I am sorry but to say he is 14 is ridiculous. How the hell is graduating hs already? Is he a genious too? If you think Peter Nowak is the savior you're crazy. He is a player not a coach and Tommy Sohn sucked as a plyer and is probably even worse as a coach.
I just think it is ridiculous at what they are paying him and then look around the league and see guys that have paid their dues for many years and they are still getting s^*$ on. I am all for keeping young talent in the states but as you see from the actions of Bocanegra, McBride, and Mathis the league is watered down. In a few years there are going to be many more players playing overseas and MLS will become the next A-League.
99% of the people on this board haven't even played soccer competitively. You guys all talk about a game you have never played. Give me a break.
That rumor wasn't even true dips*it. You guys all talk like you know everything that is going on in American soccer but you guys don't know anything or anyone.
He is very intelligent, and he goes to school year round. When you start high school at 11 years old and go 12 months a year, you'll probably graduate right around your 15th birthday, as he's going to do. Also, many schools have international kids who are well older, and nobody is claiming that they are 18 when they are "freshman". Maybe the term first, second, third, and fourth year would be more suited for you.
So if we've never played this game before, then we aren't qualified to talk about it. However, someone like Nowak who has played almost his entire life is going to be a terrible coach? Brilliant Sherlock.
Just because you have played the game doesn't mean you can coach Sherlock. Believe me Nowak was a great player for my home team (Fire) but that doesn't mean he is going to set the world on fire coaching. Once again...chalk another point up for the one person that actually knows something about soccer. Me-1 Morons-0
Man alive. This is the worst thread I've taken the time to read in quite some time. I haven't figured out yet whether it's about Trask & Kovalenko, Adu's real age, Nowak & Soehn, or whether people who have never played are qualified to talk about it. Guess I'll have to go elsewhere for some entertainment.
Case in point Stiochkov...he was excellent coach right? No he was too busy bullying around college kids. What a joke.
Frank Yallop knew nothing about coaching. All he had done was play. He was such a terrible coach he won two MLS Cups in three years, pasted your "home team," and moved on to coach his national side. Alex Ferguson knew nothing about coaching. All he had done was play. Me-2 You-0 And if you want to talk about Freddy's age, there's a separate thread for that. You'll have to search back some, though, because it's such a dead topic that no one wants to discuss it anymore.
This was the post that really annoyed me most. I don't where the hell you came from but go back and be a loud mouth there (the sad thing is you're acting like too much of an a**-hole to be even a Mutt fan). And who the hell are you to say "I know everything, all of you know nothing", to the best of my knowledge God doesn't post on Bigsoccer. Finally, contrary to your hypocritical beliefs most of us do play the beautiful game.
