It's just incompetence from the chairman. It has been 46 days since we signed Kudus. 7 days left in the window: tick-tock, tick-tock, Daniel...
47 days since the Kudus signing. 6 days left in the window, calling Daniel Levy...Daniel, are you there? Johan? Fabio? Anybody?
Why you don't leave your transfer business to the last week: Newcastle have their 50 million pound bid for Strand Larsen of Wolves turned down. Strand effing Larsen.
Fabrice Hawkins (no idea who this is) is reporting that Galatasaray have agreed personal terms with Yves Bissouma Exclusive: Yves Bissouma is set to join Galatasaray. Negociations at final stage between Tottenham and Gala for the transfer of the midfielder. Personal terms already agreed.
The rumor mill is in a frenzy reporting we’re “trying” to hijack the Xavi deal. We have this guy at work. He’s the first person to volunteer to show their work when a meeting is likely going to be cancelled and/or it’s a staff meeting with leadership who won’t attend the actual meeting, but has to be practically forced at gunpoint to show it at a standing meeting. It’s an incredible tactic, to the higher ups it looks like he’s proactive to decision makers. I bring this up for no particular reason.
The window has been open 89 days. Let's see what our fearless chairman, who has told everyone he wants to win the PL and the CL, has done in that time. He has signed Mohammed Kudus on a permanent deal and Palhinha on loan. He has effed up 2 release clause transfers (Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze). He has failed to close deals for Savinho and Nico Paz. He has sold Son and Josh Keely for a total of 21 million pounds.
How a real club operates in the transfer market. Chelsea have sold 13 players, this window for a total of 275 million pounds, including Nkunku today to Milan for 36 million. While they and other teams are strenghthening, Levy is haggling over a loan deal for Bissouma to Galatasaray.
Unless Chelsea come in. They had already agreed personal terms with the player earlier this summer, and he would prefer a move to them.
Romano now saying that we've finalized a deal - in the middle of the night - with RB Leipzig for Xavi Simons. All that's left is to sort terms with the player, who himself is pushing to get this done ASAP, so Romano's saying this will be sewn up by morning (physical pending, presumably). We all know better than to get excited until we see the player in the shirt, or holding up the scarf, of course. And if im honest, Romano's sterling reputation has taken a bit of a hit in this window. ... but if I dont wake up tomorrow to the news of our new signing, I'll be one grumpy bastard by the time I get to work.

No way this happens, he'll want Chelsea and for some reason they want even more attacking mids ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 'Crumbs from Chelsea's table' according to LLM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Although Simmons is a good player and a great backup, he does come across as a mercenary" Just thought I'd post this comment from another site about no way he's coming to us. As we wait to see whether Simons will actually sign with us, I ran across this quote from a notable baseball player. Seems appropriate. "I am the most loyal player money can buy." ~ Don Sutton
It's bloody official mate! https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2025/august/xavi-simons-joins-from-rb-leipzig/ #7 shirt for Xavi.
From what I understand, the lad stayed overnight in the training ground hotel, and had his medical in the middle of the night. I am sure Frank had a role to play in convincing the pIayer to sign (where are all those people who said he couldn't attract top players?). Now that's how you get a big transfer over the line. I didn't think Levy had it in him, so credit to the chairman (yes, I said it - don't get used to it). Now let's keep going and get some more in!
