Wow. Did you use AI to help you write that? A lot of big words in there from the two of you, I'll have to get out my dictionary.
Ok gentlemen, genuine question from the softer side of The Chickasaw nation of Native Americans, the ********** if you like. I know very little about football tactics and the setting up of a team but Jack Grealish has been suggested. Would he be a good addition? For some reason s-q-u-a-w was erased.
The woke police have taken over, I guess. Don't worry about the tactics - our manager doesn't know anything about them either. Grealish would be great, but I don't see him coming for a few reasons: 1. Levy had a chance to sign him from Villa for 25 mil in 2019 but bottled it when he tried to beat down the fee and the Villa owners told him to sod off. 2. He would command high wages, so that is a no-fly for our chairman. 3. If Ange turned down Eze when he was offered to him last summer, why would he want Grealish?
I don't hate Levy as much as some folks, but what he's doing now is really stupid. Whether Ange stays or goes, the delay and uncertainty is really fvcking things up.
Agree (re not hating Levy as much as others and the deleterious affect of this delay.) I'll also add that I'm lean toward firing Ange, even though I don't think giving him another shot is as horrendous a decision as others think. To me, firing Ange is worth it if it makes the players worry for their place in the squad if they don't improve their league form. I'm trying to figure out Levy's thought process here. Based on reports and the oddsmakers, Levy's in the middle of negotiating bringing on Thomas Frank to replace Ange. That means he has to come to terms with Frank and with Brentford for compensation. But if he has decided to move on from Ange, why not fire him first. Two possibilities: 1) Levy has decided to move on from Ange whether or not he gets Frank, but hasn't fired Ange because he believes doing so before finalizing the Frank negotiations will raise the price Frank and (in particular) Brentford will demand. ("I already need to buy out Ange's contract, so don't push me too hard, Brentford, or I'll just decide to stick with Ange. That's what most of the supporters want anyways.") 2) Keeping Ange is Levy's second choice if he can't get Frank, so he does not want to fire Ange unless and until Frank is buttoned up. But #1 option only works on Brentford if they think #2 is the real reason. But if #2 is the real reason, then Frank and Brentford will hold firm and jack the price figuring Levy must value Frank that much if he's the only manager for which Levy is willing to part with Ange. If #1 is the real reason, why not fire Ange and use the possibility of hiring Marco Silva or Oliver Glasner as leverage against them. It works better as leverage than the possibility of keeping Ange. If #2 is the real reason, then have the strength of your convictions and pay the man (and his current employer) what you value him. In the meantime, how much will we lose in increased transfer market value as gettable players that Frank might want are getting gradually snatched away or locked up by their current clubs? Fair chance that, in aggregate, it's more than the current amount Levy is trying to save in this negotiation with Frank/Brentford. Not to mention what leaving the man who brought you your first trophy in 17 twisting in the wind will do to your reputation as a boss that other managers/players want to work for. But it's clear that Levy gave up on that being a concern of his a long time ago.
Brentford can't jack up the price - Frank has a release clause of 9 million pounds, so they can't get more than that. Interesting, the Frank talk has appeared in The Guardian, which doesn't usually publish stuff unless they are pretty sure it's going to happen or is happening. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...homas-frank-ange-postecoglou-future-brentford
Good to know. Not a surprise my analysis is completely wrong. Although knowing Levy he's probably trying to get Brentford to accept 1 million plus rights to Fraser Forster.
On the contrary, I enjoyed reading your analysis. Your point about the Bees being tough negotiators is not without merit. Remember, we were interested in signing Raya, and they held out for a ridiculous fee, so we went with Vicario instead.
HomeOpinion ‘Tottenham to sanction shock Brennan Johnson exit after transfer development’ Kyrenia Shipillis Mon 9 June 2025 8:00, UK Brennan Johnson could fall victim to the summer shake-up taking place at Tottenham. Johnson will go down in Tottenham history after scoring the goal that ended the North London club’s 17-year trophy drought. Here you are Golara. Maybe another on the way out. Where's your good squad going?
Frank wanted Johnson at Brentford, so if he comes in it would certainly be a surprise to see Johnson go. And who comes in and gets rid of the leading scorer? Now here's something we can laugh at. Watch Johnny Cardoso (number 15), who figures he's too good for Spurs. The hilarity starts at 3:33.
You really are a first class ignoramus. Where is he going to go? What chairman out there is as naive as Levy to pay 49 million quid for him? Has the player handed in a transfer request? Has anyone bid for him? Again, when your sedative wears off, take some time to find out how transfers work.
Signing Tel on a permanent deal. Apparently Frank wants to keep him so that’s good. Hard to judge the lad, but the £50m seems steep based on what we did see.
I'm reading 35m which is much more palatable: perhaps you're including the 10m loan fee which is already spent. Could he be Son's eventual replacement? Or a more central forward role which I believe he filled for Bayern youth teams? If Richy is sold, which seemed quite likely, Tel could be useful flexibility in the forward line.
Price for Tel is alright, but I've not seen anything of him in Spurs colours that's made me sit up and be impressed.
I think that was the original fee quoted over the winter period - or maybe it was £65m. Thirty-five is much more reasonable.
Tel has great technical skills and he's fast. Needs coaching and maybe a bit of extra work in the weight room. Plus he likes Spurs and wants to stay. Apparently Bayern were willing to drop the price because it's being used to offset what they still owe us for Kane.
According to Chris Cowlin, Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce are in talks with Son Heung Min. He's suggesting the club will be looking for something like 30m euros. Sonny would, in my opinion, benefit from carrying on in a league less pacey than the Prem. If he wants to stay, and Frank wants him, obviously I'd want him here. But if either is thinking that him moving on is best, it probably is. I'd definitely prefer that to watching him decline. And while that's not inevitable in the season to come, its not tough to envision.
Well, if he goes it's on a high. Got us a trophy, leaves as a legend and before the decline becomes truly obvious. He's been a bit out of sorts this year. Likely carrying an injury.
Yeah, I think we've seen the last of Sonny. No way Spurs let him play out his contract, and he reportedly turned down an extension earlier in the year. Which is fine. His future with Spurs would be as fan favorite who comes on in the 75th minute, but he can still be dominant in a lesser league.
It is a derogitory term for Native Americans, or the indigenous here in the states As a quarter Dane, this would be nice.
