Veliz loaned to Espanyol for the season. He went to Spain last year and hardly played, so that was pointless for his development. Hope he actually gets to play there this year. There was a lot of hype about him when he came in (including a Messi quote) but seems he's behind Scarlett and possibly Lankshear in the young backup striker role.
Interesting news today the Solanke isn’t contingent of selling Richy and Richy doesn’t want to go to Saudi. Not sure it’s a direct quote but he said something along the lines of “yeah it’s a lot money, but there are more things I want than money” Can’t fault the guy’s heart. Hope he can stay relatively injury free this season.
I read that Solanke is only making 75,000 / week, so he's probably happy to go to a bigger club, play in Europe and get a nice pay raise. But yes, bringing in the 4th highest goal scorer in the league, would be pretty shocking.
Fab with his usual “here we go” on Solanke, so pretty much a done deal. 🚨⚪️ Dominic Solanke to Tottenham, here we go! Royal deal has the "here we go" as well. Wonder if we're in the market for a fullback now? Neto is going to Chelsea, so we don't have to keep reading that old rumor (and Gallagher is off to Spain, as well - never for one minute did I think he would be coming to Spurs).
It was always going to be one of Solanke, Toney or David. Solanke seems best suited to Ange-Ball and he is entering the prime years of his career. It does create competition in the forward spots, but our squad still looks thin in the fullback positions.
Agree. Although Ange eventually used Van de Ven at LB at the end of last year and he did just fine, a specialist backup would be better. On the right, Spence had a good preseason but I'm not convinced by him yet. Gray showed up at RB also.
I dunno ... we spent big on that Greaves kid and he turned out ok. ... I'm dating myself here, amn't I?
What about buying 2 strikers and offload Richy? Spurs have always done well with 2 up front. Keane Berba, Crooks Archibald for instance.
Offload Richy where? Nobody wants him at the price Levy will expect. We ain't buying any other strikers.
Tottenham transfer news: Spurs to sign another striker after Dominic Solanke deal? By Carter White Published: August 11 2024 | 13:43 Just read this in Newsnow Spurs. I hope we do get another striker instead of relying heavily on one.
I think I could tolerate 2 years in Saudi for the sort of gelt they're offering. He's a bit of a waste of space for us isn't he?
