Preferably a good young LWF and one more midfielder who can help in transition and backup striker.

This isn't a bad move. We needed experience. We needed a little more "creativity" from the double pivot spot. We also got prem proven/experience. He is one of Belgiums captains. Also another set piece taker.

But still we need a 3rd CM and it really needs to be a hit.

Moves have been underwhelming so far.

We should look into this Eriksen fella. He’s had a proper summer rest, and word on the street is that he’s bionic. No need to blood dope when you’re a ********ing cyborg.

    Tielemans?

We're shopping in the bargain bins again, if we were ever going for him should have been when he left Leicester on a free not now at 29

not sure who the hit would be given Tchouaméni just re-upped.

we could get solid options but i doubt any would qualify as a hit.

who do you have in mind?

But do you agree, this is a good signing?

Someone who is a bit more aware defensively without sacrificing technicality. So Bouaddi, Stiller, Camavinga.

We've spend just over £85 mil on 2 players. We cant believe all the rumours, but if we did, it seems we still have a decent amount left.

Tielemans was fantastic all world cup and beat out some very good midfielders along the way. Our third definitely needs to be defensive minded. Stiller is perfect and would be a hit for me. I'd be happy with Bouaddi, but i don't think he's what we need after the purchases we've made.

I like the Tielemans move, I wanted him here about 5 years ago. Also, we and the so called in-the-know reporters really don't know what's really happening behind the scenes. Well played Vivell & Co.

He's been very good for Villa too, he scored some really great goals in the Europa league and looked very calm.

Just feels a bit like in the past when we were signing players 2-3 seasons after we should have been in for him.

£35m is at least not too bad in this economy

Santos and Tielemans for the same price as Fernandes.

Im good with that given we needed depth and quality.

In the world where we are a rich club without debt drag and garbage owners we pay top money for the top young & mid 20s players.

In the real world where we have limited funds, a young not fully established pair in Mainoo & Santos with a crocked Ugarte, then Tielemans makes a lot of sense at this price.

We do need a mobile #6 though. Tielemans can do DLP but is not a secure DM and is a profile we still lack in our CMs.

Heard Villa to lose Digne to PSG for under £10m also on release clause. Gotta sting.

Villa over achieved last year in the Prem so I wonder how they'll do this season with added CL and losing some of their established players.

thinking about this more i guess Tielemans is an experienced signing. also no injury track record to worry about. this "prem proven" argument also applies here.

at ~£36m is good value. if Éderson is copped at £30m later on OK for depth.

all this means is Mainoo will need to be on his P's and Q's to get game time. and competition is good.

as it stands now you'd assume Fernandes, Tielemans and Santos start

    Why Santos over Kobe?

I assume in games that arent seen as the most tough, tactical etc, Kobe can start.

Im always dreaming about a team that can finally build from the back.

I just assume because of the 3, Tielemans is the better player and would probably start the big games.

Probably moot point right now as I don't think we're done.

I think mainoo is a must start, but also think Santos gives better balance to him than Tielemans.

~£50m for a sub would be silly.

i also assume Carrick would give him games to bed in.

can't see Carrick making Tielemans our Norgaard either
