£80million seems like an AVG price now.for any of our target. Alex Scott for 80?

£80m is the market now unfortunately. What do we think of his talent regardless of the price?

 

I think these exorbitant prices are like a Prem-proven premium. Maybe the club can get less expensive alternatives outside the Prem but that's a risk.

As for Alex Scott, he's ok but he's not even Bournemouth's best midfielder. That would be tyler Adams, who when fit is their best CM. He sits further back than Scott, Adams is a 6 while Scott is more of an 8.

 

You would think a reasonable recruitment team would see the writing on the wall for their prem-proven strategy and pivot to the continent. There has to be a cost/benefit/risk analysis for keeping the prem-proven strategy vs how exorbitant these prices are right now.

 

The prices aren't the major hurdle as that can be overcome with deal structure. We were happy to go to 80+5 for Fernandes first example.

It's the wages that are key because of their squad knock on effects. And, how they potentially devalue a player should they fail, because moving moving them on becomes nigh on impossible.

As always, the question becomes, what kind of wages/commission/bonuses does Scott require?

 

Same same. I also am not sure I believe we were willing to go to 80+5. Regardless, if we've worked our way down the prem-proven list, and there's a threshold where we need to pivot to the continent, it seems like it has been crossed if we're at Alex Scott for 80mm.

 

Either we are gonna end up looking super cool or stupid at the end of transfer window. I think we should give time to current setup and judge later. Hindsight is a bi*ch.. yeah.

I dont see Alex Scott or Andrey Santos as Premier League proven.

Scott only one season (other were breaking into team and a meniscus tear so few minutes).

Santos yet to be a regular.

Shouldnt play premier league proven prices if not premier league proven.

Ornstein saying Santos is done £48m + £2m addons and 10% sell-on.

Have to see how pans out, depends on scouting.

Havent seen him play alot, not sure.

 

Both Ederson and Santos just feel like prioritising filling gaps for relatively small outlay rather than picking starters to me.

If we dont get a starter quality mainstay CM to replace Cas it wont be enough.

 

There might be an advantage here as we're looking less desperate now for numbers. Obviously 3 not enough if we add in Mainoo, but better than it was.

Also, I'm not sure 50m is expensive looking at the market, especially for PL experience.

If the wage is right, this might not be such a horrible move.

I don't think him breaking in with Chelsea as a dead certain starter is a terrible omen given he's behind both Caceido and/or Enzo.

 

I really hope this Santos deal turns out good. £50million seems not expensive given the current exorbitant market.

Get the fear, but Santos a much much lower financial gamble.
