Which show is that from? His credibility has some standing still since he did disclose: BTW, good on you. It was depressing. We're in such a sorry state Maguire remains a relevant, key man and I think will for at least one more season.
he's a boy who has proven nothing to date and is headed for the championship. if he is demanding UCL football he can kick rocks
Personally wouldn't hold the 'wanting to play CL football' thing against him - given how many places now qualify, then any player that has played in the EPL and is looking for a move will say they want CL football. What else are they gonna say?? Like all our potential signings can look at it two ways. From the point of view that we are "Manchester United" and are a big club that puts immense pressure on players and desperately needs top quality players who are guaranteed to succeed, then this would be a stupid signing and we should do better. From the point of view that we are a sh1tty bankrupt mid-table club with no money and a really long shopping list, then can be see differently. For sure, don't want to look at it through this lens but its the sad truth. If we are bargain basement shopping then on the plus side at least our scouts will have seen him play and score in this league against this leagues defenders (haven't watched him to judge). We buy a similar age and similar cost player from a poorer league then being able to handle the pace, physicality and oppo defenders is an unknown (as we have found out with both Hojlund and Zirkzee). So given budget then depends on cost and wages (and it better be at the cheaper end of both). Plus they better make damn sure he has a good injury record and the right attitude. We just shouldn't have to shop in such sh1tty supermarkets with such an empty wallet is all ...
the issue is not what Manchester United is or isn't. it is what HE is. Ollie Watkins can demand UCL football. Cunha can demand UCL football. Isak can demand UCL football. maybe even Mbuemo, Mateta or Wissa can. Delap has no significant track record and is going to play championship football. there are a plethora of mid table and top half forwards that are better than him in this league alone. the nerve of him if it is true that those are his demands. it's not as if the UCL clubs are beating down his door to buy him AND make him first choice. again, kick rocks
12 Prem goals this season, 2 of which were penalties and another a tap-in to 6 inches. Seems good with both feet but not much can be gleaned from this. Release fee is 30m Pounds. Might be ok as a backup striker but I just don't see him as being good enough to be our #1 striker.
^ Because the Scottish/English scouts that runs our recruitment think Ligue 1 is for pussies. That's why we sign these Nordic guys. Lindelof and Hojlund, proper hard men.
Maybe I'm alone on this, but 62m feels really high for Cunha. Maybe I'm scarred from the last decade and my judgement is now flawed, but I'm already feeling pessimistic about the summer. He's had what, 2 good seasons this far, right?
When was the last time we signed a PL proven goal scorer? Lukaku? It's nice to actually have someone come in who's not just a 'talent' but played in a PL for a while and scored a decent amount of goals. The rest of the transfer window will probably depend heavily on how Wednesday's final goes.
i have my reservations about Cunha too but not because of his talent. i think his versatility will be good for the 3-4-2-1 as well since he isn't a purely down the middle type forward. i also love that he can score long range goals. we haven't had that in our arsenal for years and our goal diversity is really poor. we aren't corner experts (headers) we aren't long range snipers we aren't penalty box predators we are maybe just about OK on free kicks another dribbler is key too, since we only have two = Diallo & Garnacho. let's see if it actually happens and which (other) attackers we target
Still unsure on Delap - reports today that he has met with United executives: https://www.skysports.com/football/...-latest-on-deals-signings-loans-and-contracts EDIT: Adding the source Athletic article that gets into some details on why Delap might be a good fit https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6368115/2025/05/19/liam-delap-manchester-united/
I know we're all about signing young players but could we add like just one veteran Striker. An Igehalo will do. According to stats Josh Windass of Boro in the Championship had 13 and there is this guy https://www.transfermarkt.us/alassane-plea/profil/spieler/167329 I just think with two young strikers there should be room for a third who is different and can do a few simple things.
In spite of my reservations, I do like were moving fast, with a plan. I'd love too see us done with incomings before pre season starts this summer. That'd be awesome and really important I think.
Notwithstanding the PL results, I still rate last summers transfers. I am not sure yet on Dorgu, but mid season transfers to a new league always take time - expect he will really benefit from a full preseason.
