It will come, I'm sure. I get the frustration, but we're moving at light speed when looking at other clubs and the overall market. And we're making reasonable priced deals.
Feels like we cant afford Ugarte and are at the bargain basement bin for a DM unless we manage to shift someone (Lindelof, McT, Sancho are only ones where there is very faint hope). It is pretty crucial given this version of Cas is both slow and mistake / injury prone and effs up our spacing. Some journos close to pre-season were suggesting Erik had plans to use Licha at other positions (LB & aux DM). We are being linked with Mario Hermoso who is a left-footed CB who is a free agent (having not agreed a new deal at Athletico Madrid). If we were to sign him it suggests that with Evans too as LCB we maybe do have other plans for Martinez given Mazraoui can play both full-back positions.
I'm hoping his lack of interest from teams thus far would make his mom more amenable to him getting a check from somewhere than nowhere.
Or he's biding his time. It's been a slow market thus far. Lots of movement likely coming now in the next 2 weeks as dominoes begin falling.
Agree on that Chaz. I was just talking what I think he might get out there. As an aside, the fees we paid for MdL and Maz are excellent. Good value, especially MdL.
Outgoings (and what we get for them) still to be determined, but I think this has been a very good window so far for Ineos especially coming from where United were at and how other teams have historically negotiated with United.
Aren't you worried they are washed out. When was the last time a coach signed someone who sucked at their last job and they magically began to perform under them?
It happens all of the time. Players not doing well under one manager / system / environment and then rediscovering their form in another. They are also on the younger side, 24 and 26, no where near washed up imo.
They are not into late 20s or something. This is upgrade on Maguire or Lindelof. Ike syedzada the only worry is adjusting to pace of EPL.
re: De Ligt's form it's not like anyone really performed well at Bayern in the last 2 seasons either. maybe Musiala and that's it. they only won the Bundesliga in 22/23 due to a Dortmund collapse and inability to win away. Leverkusen had no such problem next time round and won it at a canter. he may have lost his way to a degree but he isn't a lost cause
pictures of De Ligt and Mazraoui en route have surfaced. glad to have another body at CB but concerned about the lack of prep and fitness for both De Ligt and Martínez. big ask. they both need to hold up
Not sure on this one, but seeing some reports circulating that United have re-opened talks with Everton over Branthwaite and are "... submitting a new bid this week of £60million, which is believed to include add-ons". It notes that while de ligt has been confirmed that Branthwaite has been a long term target
