Seems like we must ship AwB first though, which is proving difficult. Some rumours were also exploring Dumfries as an option (would be all over this). But again, can't do anything without securing an AwB exit.
It seems we are lining up a few potential deals for a / b and sometimes c targets but have left them temporarily stalled at final price agreements with clubs because we are stalled on player sales. Makes good sense given we cant execute a deal until we make some sales and have to balance the a / b / c call accordingly. Only issue is that there is a time limit on player/ agent attention span. Amrabat, Branthwaite, De Ligt, Ugarte etc will only wait so long it seems. For sure need some further movement on exits.
Some poor sources reporting we have agreed fee for AWB to West Ham. Waiting on him to agree wages. Also reports that after agreeing with player we have agreed terms with Bayern for Mazraoui. So maybe some movement this week. Mazraoui is an upgrade on AWB given he can attack and pass. However he is cheap bc he is very injury prone. Necessary compromise I guess but cant say I am thrilled at the idea of another crock. AWB needs to go - great at tackling but no threat and critically doesnt progress the ball.
I like AWB and will be sad to see him go. He was limited but he did always but in an honest shift and even switched wings cause the club needed him. A solid professional but unfortunately we changed coaches and styles and he doesn't fit anymore.
Promising looking striker, kid turns 17 in November. 🚨🔴 EXCLUSIVE: Chido Obi Martin to Man United, here we go! I think the new guy we are trying to get for RB is probably on way lower wages than Wan Bissaka. So trying to lower wages for a backup I assume.
Fulham now bid 20m pounds for McT. Not enough imo. But, if that's mostly all up front, id probably do it. Reinvest that money this year and give his minutes to Collyer.
hopefully ten Hag and INEOS are more realistic given that sales are the only thing holding up additional transfers in
Ornstein reporting that we made a renewed double bid today for De Ligt and Mazraoui which was rejected by Bayern but sounds like the figures are close. Also notes that both players are upset with Bayern’s position as both were told that were surplus and now Bayern is playing hardball on the fee.
Same with Ugarte. According to reports, personal terms agreed upon weeks ago and the player wants United. But sales need to be made and players need to leave.
looking like another summer of last minute arrivals who will have no preseason with their teammates if we even get any more over the line. and before anyone says it of course it is different and not INEOS fault that old chickens have come home to roost but most fans won't care they just want players in. if it is to be them at least Mazraoui is on tour with Bayern getting minutes and fitness, De Ligt is not getting any so it would be a slow start. Aug 10th is our start with a chance at silverware and the window closes Aug 30th so 25 days to go
The story so far; Out - In squad last year Varane (CB), Martial (#9), Kambwala (CB), Forson (RW), Amrabat (DM) Out - Not in squad last year Greenwood (#9/RW), van de Beek (#8/#10), Alvaro Fernandez (LB), , Brandon Williams (LB) In Yoro (CB) injured until Nov, Zirkzee (#10/#9) Not really where we want to be and despite all the talk AWB, McT, Sancho, Lindelof, Casemiro, Maguire still with us ... Plus we start without Hojlund, Yoro and Malacia for a while. Critical to get Ugarte, De Ligt, Mazraoui over the line with Chido Obi-Martin potentially needed too despite being just a kid.
According to Ornstein we have given up on Ugarte as PSG wont budge on price. Maybe a negotiation tactic or maybe it is what it is. The tweet following sums it up pretty well. 🚨 EXCL: Man Utd switch midfielder search away from Manuel Ugarte & onto other options. #MUFC don’t intend to meet ~€60m fee + will only revisit if #PSG price drops. No progress yet, talks cooled + exploring other top targets for right deal @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/pf83VniEet— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) August 5, 2024 A 💣 from Ornstein, but not the one we wanted. Ugarte deal OFF.I have to say that I think this is the correct decision. Ugarte became interesting because he failed at PSG and potentially could be had cheap. He is a very interesting young player, superb attitude, underrated… https://t.co/w6xu8LaoXa— The Swedish Rumble 🔰 (@SwedishRumble) August 5, 2024
Andre at Fluminense Gomes at Wolves (probably most $$ option) Zubimendi Those are the 3 names being most talked about. Andre likely the cheapest but I think Zubimendi could be most interesting in terms of fit. He has a release clause of 50m euro I think, but that means we'd have to pay it up front, in full, which isn't good for our cash flow or PSR standing.
