Fair but part of it is thinking creative. We need a LB as we have no idea what is the deal with the two on the books. Either promote a kid or sign a not at this level guy and see. I would approach Tottenham for a season long loan of Reguillion with a cheap buy option. So next year we buy him and sell one of the sick notes. But getting the best LB in the championship won't be the worst as we need a capable LB not a world class one.

I have been a Lavia fan forever and was just curious if Chelsea would do a dance of the sick notes with.

    Everything is plausible.

We don't need another injury-prone Chelsea player, especially considering the season he just had.

That one didn’t make a lot of sense other than the age profile. He’s playing games at a non-selling club, has only been there a year, and moved there for pretty big money meaning he wouldn’t leave for any less (something like 60 mil). My guess is this is the agent or some French rags running nonsense.

He played 25 matches last year in a team that sometimes plays with 3 CM's or 4 [the diamond]. It appears he isnt valued there.

Also, Warran Zaire Emery has played more and is their crown jewel in the same role.

    Update from Rob Dawson:

    • Manchester United expect both Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood to report back to training if they have not left the club by the start of preseason, a source has told ESPN.
    • United have told players not involved in the European Championship or Copa América to return to Carrington on July 8.
    • United are continuing to reshape Ten Hag's staff ahead of the new season after holding talks with Go Ahead Eagles manager Rene Hake. It leaves the futures of current assistants Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren, who both arrived with Ten Hag in 2022, unclear.
    • Forwards coach Benni McCarthy is also set to leave with his contract due to expire at the end of the month.

McLaren will became an adviser and further in the background for Hake. RvN will take over for McCarthy and MVdG stays.

there are reports out there that United will meet Zirkzee's release clase of €40m. but of course, still in "positive talks".

just pay the damn money and move on. at the very least force the decision if he wants to join, go to the other suitors or stay.

when non-elite, zero top flight experienced kids are going for £30 - £40m, that release clause of ~£34m is very reasonable.

even moreso with the current striker shortage. this dawdling is just going to allow someone else to swoop in and snap him up instead

The problem for everyone including us is not the €40m release clause, but the €15m agent fee that Kia Joorabchian (his and Tevez old agent) is demanding.

That is why the negotiations are taking a while.

The release clause not the issue.

Even with that amount, total cost would still be less than the next best striker available. Want to spend over £100mil on Osimehn? Cunha, Joao Pedro, and other strikers were linked with are more exspensive than Zirkzee with the agent fee.

I know it sets a precedent, but were not in a position to pick and choose.

it's a release clause, why would there even be an agent's fee?

    fair point.

as benni... said beggars can't be choosers. saving €15m isn't going to get us a better forward and very unlikely to get us any other player much less a gem since we have forsaken South America and other markets completely.

which is utterly criminal, given Real Madrid have built an entire elite front line direct from Brasil alone
