I don't know how much fun he'll have playing with the kids before realizing he should taken that loan offer last winter. IMO he would have stood out at Bordeaux and have given himself options. Now he'll spend another season being invisible before he's out of contract and having to pitch himself to a lot of clubs who won't be much interested in a reserve team player who missed over two seasons through knee injury and is on the wrong side of 30.
Apart from the obscene amounts of money, I like all of our new signings. We certainly had a better window than Chelsea and Liverpool. Also, Nottingham Forest signed 21 players. Now, that's ridiculous.

And the Ronaldo saga may not be over yet... https://www.espn.com/soccer/blog-tr...eds-cristiano-ronaldo-to-make-fenerbahce-move ESPN citing Turkish reports that he has agreed in principle to join Fenerbahce - their window is open until Sept 8.
Thought this was a good read: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...dacious-upheaval-of-manchester-united-ten-hag
Apparently Murtough blocked EtH plans to move AWB on according to The Athletic; https://www.unitedinfocus.com/news/...o-reconsider-selling-wan-bissaka-this-summer/ The issues with AWB are not minor imo and are not resolvable with a bit of coaching. Think this is more about Murtough not wanting to swallow a big loss on a poorly scouted target we overpaid for.

Jurrien Timber tells @ADnl: “It was fake that was Louis van Gaal who told me not to go to Manchester United this summer…”. 🔴 #MUFC“Van Gaal actually said I would make minutes there, so that story was not true”. pic.twitter.com/qsDNFNNhil— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) September 3, 2022
Thats the difference between us and Chelsea/City is that when they decide a player isn’t good enough, he’s sold and replaced. They don’t try to save face or save money by keeping around a guy that clearly doesn’t have it.
Chelsea probably could have done with some of that because they spent 200M on defenders and between Tomori, Rudiger and Christiansen they could have been set for years and spent that money on buying a working midfield.
Man United director John Murtough: "Overall, we are ahead of schedule in our recruitment plans as envisaged at the start of the summer, and we do not anticipate same level of activity in future windows”. 🔴 #MUFC“As always, our planning focuses on the summer window”. pic.twitter.com/NK6dXOijU2— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) September 22, 2022 We will make no new signing until next summer. Murtaugh disgusts me. I hate the Glazers so so much.
https://www.espn.com/soccer/frenkie...edchelsea-summer-saga-i-never-wanted-to-leave "But I have to say that, for me, it was always clear what I wanted. That's why I was also able to stay calm during that period."
Fully expecting another Fred/Dalot/Grant type of transfer window next summer. any progress we make this year will be halted by the Glazers cutting funds.
I wouldn't read into the timing too much, between underfunding from austerity and then covid on top the courts in the UK are just miles behind
Some might go this January. The winter World Cup is going to make things different for a winter window I think.
🚨🇳🇱 NEW: @cwoconsultancy on Van der Sar & #MUFC: "Two years ago he said no, now he has been approached again — Don't be surprised if he leaves. Anyone knows about this? NEW: Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal with former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards. United believe Edwards is the right man to oversee their transfer business and have made him a “hugely attractive offer”. #MUFC [@SportsPeteO, @footyinsider247] pic.twitter.com/nzJJ3EcuL8— mufcmpb (@mufcMPB) October 25, 2022
I don’t see it being reported by anyone reputable, but it would be a massive hire. The general consensus around Edwards is that he’s very good at what he does and given a proper budget (which who knows if he’ll have that here) could do wonders.
I'd be happy if we sign him, but we need him in January, not the summer. January is when you plan, summer is when you execute.
