Well since we have about 4-5 posters over teh past two weeks in this forum, why not get the transfer rumor thread going. Bizzare rumor of the day from the daily mirror, which i spotted on BRFCS is that Steve Howey is training with Blackburn as we speak, fresh off an unimpressive stint with the New England Revolution. You gotta be kidding me. The only player that it seems Rovers have been seriously linked with is this Osterlund kid from Sweeden that I obviously know nothing about. But, it seems he's a prime target at the moment to help the defense. Any other rumors? Players going out?
And now we have this today, 24 year old South African Defender in on a 2 day trial. http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=240982&cpid=8 Once again I know nothing about him. But it is intriguing.
Dear God, we better not even waste two pence on Howey. I shudder at the thought of him even being at training. I know nothing of Mokoena, but I'd have to think he'd a more athletic option over any of our other defenders. Of course Gabiddon of Cardiff has been thrown around, given his connection to Hughes through Wales. Even Robbie Savage's name has been in some rumour circles, but I don't think we need him.
I've heard that too, but I don't think we need him either. And Bruce also said he's bnot for sale...but that doesn't really mean anything.
"not for sale" is sometimes like a vote of confidence for a coach; they may be out the door soon. I haven't heard of any strikers we may be in on, but I tend to think we may be ok there as well.
Three weeks ago I would have disagreed, but I like the way Gallagher has stepped up. Dickov will always give 110 percent though one hopes he finds the net more often. And I think we can get goals from the midfield with Reid and Emerton...at least I hope Emerton comes around. And if Stead ever gets healthy thats another option. Frankly, I'd rather fight for survival with those guys than look to bring in a journeyman and see Gallagher and Stead on the bench not getting any time.
Stuff is picking up....Radio reports have Ryan Nelsen training with Rovers, which I am not opposed to. Get him the hell outta DC so the Crew don't need to deal with him, and I think he can succeed at Blackburn. And frankly I'd rather have him than a 34 Bayern castoff... http://www.goal.com/NewsDetail.aspx?idNews=36977
And since he's most probably lost to United, the best of all possible worlds is that he goes to my other team...
The guys on Rovers World pre game coverage spoke of Nelsen for a few minutes this morning. Looks like he's making a positive impression.
yeah thats what i thought. apparently he can be brought in right now, and they wouldn't need to wait to the january window, so hughes is interested. ridiculous. also, djorkaef is reportedly on his way out.
Xavier could be seen as direct competition for Neill, but realistically, he is not. Djorkaeff can get out to. I know he was only on a short term contract, but he did nothing much in his playing time and now he's crocked. I was thinking about the finances earlier today, and I came to the conclusion that they should sell Matteo and then go after a couple of younger, more athletic center-backs. Though they may not get much of a fee for him, what they would save in dropping his wages would probably be more than helpful.
Portuguese international Abel Xavier is training with Blackburn Rovers.. http://skysports.planetfootball.com...ID=8&CLID=&lid=3&title=Rovers+consider+Xavier -- Looks like the Portugese Santa Claus is comming back to England...nice lad but a shaky defender during his LFC days.
Lazio's French midfielder Ousmane Dabo could leave the club in January........ http://footballmsn.skysports.com/li...Dabo+looking+for+window&channel=Football_Home
Blackburn Rovers have taken South Africa international Aaron Mokoena on trial. http://footballmsn.skysports.com/li...51&title=Rovers+in+for+Mokoena&channel=Africa
Glad to see he is making an impression. Any other sites we might be able to glean info from besides the team site?
Hughes confirms Xavier talks http://footballmsn.skysports.com/li...hes+confirms+Xavier+talks&channel=Premiership
Came across this, FWIW... "Blackburn boss Mark Hughes is signing New Zealand captain Ryan Nelson and South Africa's Aaron Mokoena after successful trials. (Daily Mirror) " http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/4087457.stm
The only player that it seems Rovers have been seriously linked with is this Osterlund kid from Sweeden that I obviously know nothing about. But, it seems he's a prime target at the moment to help the defense. Once again Sweden is spelled with one "e". Östlund is a very good right-back, he rcently played in the world team against Barcelona....................currently he plays in Hammarby, but i think he would make a mistake going to a team (Blackburn) who is one of the worst in the league, but maybe he likes the challenge........
