I wasnt a big fan of him in his first stint but I started to appreciate him more when he came back. A player can grow on you partly because he was also link to the last great team this club had. I think his decision making improved as he aged but sadly his pace at the same time started to decline. I would have been happy to see him stay as a squad player as I dont think he will ever lose the nose to score a goal, he always has been one of those players to pop up at the right time. Can do a job in multiple positions, never complains when on the bench and technically as good as anyone. Its hard to find squad players with that profile but if he still wants to be a starter and play more football then good luck to him. I do think Genoa is the obvious choice, where it all started for him and of course DDR.

He was for sure at his best when we had him Perotti and Salah up top. Was fun to watch.

Our mercato will change drastically if we get the CL money.

    For the better? Yes. Drastically.....no.

Would very much like to see a CL qualified mercato for a change over the rinse repeat EL qualified mercato we've become accustomed to though.

One damn solid (8/9 outta 10) summer mercato is all this club needs to push on. It's been missing for too long.....not helped of course by FFP.

Making CL shouldn’t change who we target. We should continue to buy younger players who can grow. All it took was one bad mercato by Monchi and we haven’t been in CL since.

A CM who can replace Cristante and a LW, utmost priority.

TV money and performance related money on top. Napoli earned almost 50m this season for crashing out in the league phase.

Get in, crash out, focus on top 4. Rinse and repeat until Serie A can get back to proper business.

I'd say try to win the league. Serie A is pretty weak right now, but Marotta (that lazy-eyed f*ck) seems to be pulling some strings behind the scenes and is making that hard. Then again, Andrea Agnelli has been run out of town the last little bit, so maybe it's achievable. Poor Elkmann. He's probably realizing how things really work in Serie A right about now. I don't care. They've been doing it to the rest of the league for years now. Up your asses Juve.

Just a quick reminder how Raspadori rejected us so he could play Conference League with Atalanta.

Does the CL money cover FFP? Or will we have to make sacrifices regardless? Where's @Salmeen10?

Celik is leaving. Still no deal for a new contract and I hope it stays that way. I've never been a big fan.

The CL money will count towards next season's books. So we will need a big money sale (or more than one) before the end of June regardless. But noone knows how big. First rumours were that the needed plusvalenza is in the region of 80m. Then last week some reports said it's only half of that. I think we'll have to make peace with losing Kone and maybe Ndicka too. But CL money means we can get good players to replace them. And Kone would've wanted to leave sooner or later anyways because he's too good for us. Just hope it's not Inter where he'll end up.

I worried that was the case, the figure I had in my head was 50-60M but I don't know where I got that from, likely vague articles citing each other. I think it's very likely N'Dicka is sold, he'll be total plusvalenza, interest in him is high and I think he can be easily replaced. I like Lucumi to come in for him, he's similar in style of play maybe slightly more brawn than brain.

Koné I've made my peace with but it'd be nice for him to stick around for another year. Especially as we're so thin in quality in midfield. As much as attackers are needed this transfer market we need depth of options and quality in midfield. Thankfully there are a lot of options out there it's just spending accordingly to balance the quantity and quality.

Indeed. Although if we want to flesh out the squad effectively we'll likely have sign a few more experienced bucks that can come in relatively cheap. We have seen mention of Freuler....and now Zappacosta. When I think of the above those are exactly the kind of players that come to mind. Solid, experienced and they know Serie A and Gasp well.

Gasp is a score more goals than them man....so we can likely expect most of the focus/funds to be on attacking players. In the other areas we'll have to wait and see who leaves. Midfield in particular needs improvement. Serious lack of technical quality there.

Hope now is we can push on from this season. Get thru the league phase....and maybe a R16 tie....would be a decent showing for the CL. In Serie A pushing on means finally winning some 'big' games.....and dispatching the 'smaller' teams more easily more regulary so we can coast for the final 25-30 mins....rather than stressing for 90mins to get over the line against Pisa.

After multiple years going round in a circle with the cards not quite falling for us....they finally did this time. So the opportunity is there for us now to kick on and and become a major player again (at least) domestically. Hopfully we grab it.
